quake 2 security pass

hey all,
I'm new to playing PC Games, and just got turned on to Quake 2(v3.2), and it is awesome. But I'm stuck, and wonder if anyone can help me?
I am in the Security Complex(map jail3.bsp, I believe) and need a Security Pass. I've been all over the freakin place. From the Torture Chamber to the Guardhouse to back to the Main Gate. I've been doing some searches for cheats on the internet, and found the ~ button, and the "give" command. But my problem is, the give command only works once and awhile, not all the time. I tried typing, "give security pass Security Pass 1", but couldn't get thru the door. Can anyone help me? I know this game is a few yrs old, but any help in this matter would get me going again...

Wow, that game is old. I havn't played it in such a long time. Is your computer crappy or something? Because there are some great games out there. Let me name a few of my faves:

Giants is one of the funiest games i've ever played. And the bumpmapping still makes me drool.

Anyways, about q2...jail, heh yeah (I love ID software, and all their games they are upmost favs!) even I have probs with jail..
Q2...best game of all time. Many would disagree, but all my friends would agree, thats one reason they are my friends.

Q2 is on most of the PCs on the household LAN. My nephew and his girlfriend wandered in and I posed the question about the security pass to him. The 3 of us wound up fraggin' each other 'til 5:00am! OK, the security pass is on the "Torture Chambers" map. There's a cell, I think on the lowest level, that has an opening in the floor of the compartment. Actually, an adjacent cell has one, too, partially covered by a damaged grate. Drop down this opening, say hello to the warm welcome you receive depending on which skill level you're playing at, and grab the rebreather. Travel underwater along a series of pipes and emerge into a compartment full of some bad guys, where, *TA-DAA!!!*, you'll find the Security Pass. Remember: Short, controlled bursts!

hehehe.... there was this dude asked me to help him on solvong a puzzle in Darkened Skye, and I did a very thorough tutorial (screwed up at the last step though... but i fixed it). I have no problem to help people in their single player puzzles because they could be too tough at times. BTW, the dude never replied again, I hope he moved on from that puzzle now...
