What's the deal with all this sad music flooding the markets now-a-days.. Whats sadder is that this shit is selling. Check this list out, top 40 (http://top40-charts.com/chart.php?cid=27). Only good song I could see is B.Y.O.B.. Why the sudden craze for hip-hop and R&B nowadays? It's not that i have a problem with hip-hop but this is fucking sad.
I know this is all commercial shit so if any of you have something good to recommend(sp) please do...

the new shit isn't all bad.....you just have to look beyond those Billboard lists to find the good shit....Collective Soul and Cake each released albums late last year that I've been listening to ever since....if you just avoid the hype, you can find some pretty good shit....

I don't look at these charts and then d/l my stuff. It's just that if it's all up there it must be selling and that is pretty fuckin depressing

Ha...
I thought most music sucked after the time Disco took over the music in the 1970's. Most of the really good stuff as from about 1975 on back to 1967 or so. There are some bands and songs out there after that I really liked...but I'll still take the music of a rock groups like Nazareth, Grand Funk Railroad, or The Who, over any of those hip hop tuneless chants they nowday's try to call music.

I've stopped listening to the radio. MP3s and the internets rule. Least i don't have to listen to all that crap for hours while hoping a good song might somehow be played.

i hate mainstream crap. i used to listen to a lot of chronix aggression on shoutcast at work, but my co-worker had it on the other day and it was just one terrible song after another. it's like talent is no longer a requirement to have a career in being a musician. all these bands do is what their producers say to them and they make their millions, it's so frustrating. The bands that live in vans for 6 years before they get any recognition, and can hardly afford to eat are the ones with any real talent. i guess i'm referring mostly to the metal bands that I like that don't get a whole lot of recognition period, but those people exist in every genre. I like a lot of music, but any hip-hop, poprock, rap, stuff just doesn't appeal to me as talent rich music. And people like ashlee simpson? honestly, if you can't sing your own songs live, you don't deserve to be performing. i'd rather sing out of key and get booed off stage than lipsync.
anyways, i'm just going off on a tangent here, so i'll quit, but i agree with the original statement.

"Why the sudden craze for hip-hop and R&B nowadays?"
There is no sudden craze for any genre of music, some people simply aren't as close-minded as others so therefore they enjoy many types of music. Music is worldwide and so is hiphop and r&b.. it's simple really.. if you don't like it don't listen to it.

Dude I couldn't agree with you more..

Like I said I don't have a problem with hip-hop, but you have to agree it's way more popular than it was like a few years ago. I'm sure there are many losers out there who listen to hip-hop not cos they like it but cos they thinklistening to rap makes them cool. I guess it's a phase; in the 80's and early 90's rock was at it's peak, now it's hip-hop.
