I'm thinking about getting this game, but I'd like to know how bad cheating online is in this game? Is it like counter-strike at it's worse, or is it like UT2k3 at current? (for those of you who never played c-s with a bunch of people useing aim-bots, i mean is the cheating as bad as that found in diablo/diablo 2)

I haven't seen much cheating and I play Battlefield more than any other game. There are cheats out there I think I'm not mentioning any names of them (such as a radar cheat) but cheating doesnt run rampant. I have seen some players, especially pilots, that are uncannily good but that doesn't really mean they are cheating.
Some people have stories of emptying whole clips into people and they don't die, but this was probably caused by lag.
As far as I know there is no aimbot or anything like that. Cheating is kept to a minimum in Battlefield and normally you only see cheating on clan servers if at all.
Most of the people with really high scores are just good and use good tactics.
Check out the forums at http://www.bfnation.net/ for more insight into ingame multiplayer cheating.
By the way Battlefield 1942 is an awesome game! A musthave if there ever was one if you have the hardware.

Check out this thread. Yes there are cheats out there but the percentage of people that use them are either low, I'm just lucky to not run into them, or they suck even with the cheats.

Yeah, that's what I mean, UT2k3 has almost no cheaters whereas c-s has (or at least had) an abundance. Thanks for the link Freaky one.

CS has been around for a fairly long time....i guess it will be only a matter of time before UT2k3 will have em too....

Nah, I don't think so. Seems like with most of the people who play UT2k3, they want a good challenge and a fair fight.

I just got it. It's the bomb. Haven't tried multi yet but from this thread, it seems like it'll be good. Of course, you need broadband to have fun. It actually says so on the box. "If you use 56k then this game won't be fun in multiplayer."

Yup. Loading times are insane compared to UT2k3 but otherwise it isn't as hard on the system. If you run UT2k3 at 800x600 with high detail, do the same with BF1942.
