if u take a look, they're both on RAID. one is scsi RAID, one is SATA RAID. it's just that me and a few others usually have discussions about this (it seems there's a new hard drive thread every week).

Frick. I need to make a rule not to post when I'm high on the spice melange. I meant to say "Scsi has always been clearly a superior drive interface if your concerned with speed." but it came up as "R@1d Iz 1337!!!!1111!!!!".

I think sata is cool if you have air cooling and need to insure that those wide-as-heck ata or scsi cables don't get in the way. SCSI is logical if you have a hojillion dollars to spend but if you be po' like me it's not gonna happen.

Upon further examination, the cheetah drive would seem to be inferior on a case per case basis. It is 15k rpm. The SATA drive is 7.2k rpm. The cheetah drive is ~74gb. The SATA drive is 160GB! According to HD tach, the cheetah drive achieves 120,363kbps read average, 60,598kbps write average with 9.3% cpu utilization. The Diamondmax 9 achieves 87,999kbps read average at 18.6% cpu utilization (which is bad...). For some reason the dumbass who wrote that review decided not to use HD tach to write to the drive just to frustrate me. At any rate, considering that the drive spins half as fast, and uses what should be an inferior interface, it is still very impressive.

Also, the reviewer of the SATA drive said nothing about how if you don't use forced air cooling then the drive will melt through your case and start a fire, killing you in your sleep like the SCSI drive will. Yes, that was sarcasm.

Thats why they make rounded IDE cables.

Well, I'll agree to that, ignore my first post. I was high at the time (not on any illegal drugs tho).

You did it yourself? Because i don't think the ones made in a factory currupt files, or they wouldn't sell and would probably be taken off the market.

Yeah, they were from newegg.com. I dunno it might have been something else. Like I said, my systems watercooled so airflow is much less relevant. My chips survival has a whole lot more to do with how well my radiator is cooled than the rest of the case.
