Yeah, I saw a sweet deal on the [H]ardForums so I jumped on it. It was for an X800XL and and ATI Silencer for 220 shipped from Canada (Next day air!), I wanted to get a 6800GT for 240 but someone got it before me :(. Eh, no biggie. Figured it was a good time to upgrade, the 9800pro (128mb) really wasn't pushing it anymore and with all this new shit comming out soon I figure I better go for it. So far so good, the card is running perfect, but this thing is fucking huge expecially with the Silencer on it, I could barely connect my SATA drive! Yeah, enough talking here are the pics:

Nice deal. Run the card w/o the silencer. Also move your drive to the lower bay. That's what I did when I switched to an X800 XL. Btw is the card brand new? Usage and warranty? Receipt?

Also Silencer looks new. Which seems pretty fucking cool shit. X800 XL is no slouch but it won't give you the overbright bloom effects. I loved the IQ on it especially AA when using low settings like no AA and 2xAA. Overall great buy and for 220 its a fuckin steal.

I suggest you sell the silencer for fucking 20 or so bucks and keep the card as is. X800 XL does not get too hot and with or without silencer, it wont clock worth shit. Silencer will give you about 5-10 Mhz on the core. Not worth the trouble IMO.

Rest is upto you. A fuckin card for 200 bucks will sound sweeter :D.

Na, its the connection on the mobo that is having a tight fit, just had to cram it a bit.

The card is pretty damn close to new, the guy had everything in the box, even both of the games. No receipt so I doubt I've got a warranty, better be careful if I plan on overclocking (Doubt it though). The one thing I like about the silencer is how quiet it is compared to the stock cooler, dunno what I'll do with it atm, might sell it pretty soon.

yeah, that was one of the first things I tried. At 1280x1024 it ran pretty smooth, couple hic-ups here and there, but those felt like the map loading up. Hopefully the full game will be even farther perfected, because it was one of the reasons I bought the card.

1280*1024 w/ everything maxed out? What AA and AF settings. I am pretty sure, you had something down, because this is not possible. Hell a 7800GTX struggles with FEAR w/ softshadows on and 1024*768 resolution with 4xAA and 16xAF.

Doh, yeah my bad. The res was 1024x768 with everything maxed and AF at 4x, hell I can't even put it at 1280x1024 :p
