I have a 17" crt monitor that i use to play games at a 1152x864x32 rate my new 17' lcd monitor that is native 1280x1024 res 8ms responce time and DVI input. I of course am going to use the lcd but i wounder is the gaming going to be slower due to the higher res.
Thanks

It will require more of your videocard, if that's what you're wondering.

Yep, if your resolution is higher, your game will run slower. Seeing how 1152x864 is just a bit away from 1280x1024, the difference might be obvious but tolerable.

alright thanks im just hoping that i didnt just buy something that will make gameplay worse compared to using this monitor, but then again i supose that i could always just plug this one back in if needed.

You can, it's called interpolation or something, but it looks like shit and can react strangely. Don't do it.
