I just got a new LCD monitor with a DVI input and when i have the dvi connected to my video card and monitor, when i turn the monitor on it says no signal input

Maybe your DVI port on your vid card is the secondary port which isn't activated yet? Maybe you need to change that in the driver software somewhere? Maybe your screen has multiple ports and you plugged it into the secondary which has to be activated by the OSD (On Screen Display)?
