Well, it has been quite awhile(since unreal) since I played a FPS. I kinda got sidetracked for the last 3 years with Everquest. Now I have unofficially retired from EQ and a couple buddys and I are looking for a DM game.
We haven't played in a long long time so we are out of touch on whats out there.

We are looking for something that has descent single player mode and obviously DMing over the internet. Hopefully a good variety of DM modes.
Who is the king of the hill now or what games are ranked at the top of the list?
We all have 2ghz+ machines, 512mb+ mem, DSL or Cable modem with a Radeon 7500 AIW being the lowest end Gcard so requirements shouldn't be a problem.
The nice thing is we will all be starting out with a new game so it puts no one at a advantage.

yep.......everquest will do that to ya :D

lot of good ones out. if it's DM you're lookin for, UT2003 should do nicely. if it's some good multiplay, Battlefield 1942 and MOHAA are great. ghost recon has some fun co-op.

you've been away long.....haven't you? :)

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault. great single play too, so it's well worth the purchase.

Great thanks for the input. Checking out UR2003 right now. I like the price of $36 too :D

I'm also downloading the splintercell demo since I had heard a lot about that over the last year.

Yes, SOF2 ownz all. I also reccomend Unreal Tournament 2003, and if you have Half-Life, download Natural Selection. Its great.

I thought there was a similar thread before, but more about military simulation shooters.

Yep, SOF II is the most intense FPS I have ever played. I fully enjoyed it. But it is way too difficult for the casual players.

Medal of Honor has the grestest atmosphere. Never seen anything SO WWII like that game.

UT2003 gets boring way too quickly.

Jedi Outcast! It's best part, though, is not in 1st person view, the light-saber fight that is!!!! Awesome!:D :D

I don't think so. It's a GOOD star wars game! How bizarre is that?

But "a good starwars game" is.

Well, it would be, but Jedi Outkast really is a good star wars game. It's a good thing that most Dune games have been very good (IE: Dune, Dune 2, Dune 2000, Emperor Of Dune). On the other hand, Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson's books...well, they are by KJA in part, who usually writes Star Wars books, so guess how good they are? (for those of you who haven't read a new jedi order book, they suck. Alot. They make Ray Bradbury look like William Shakespere)

I second Jedi Knight 2... that is a fun game, though I didnt like the multiplayer that much. I think that it would be more fun with people you know though. I just got sick of getting skewered by the really good players cuz I couldnt figure out the moves.

Good singleplayer games: Splinter Cell, System Shock 2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein are all good games, also I hear good stuff about the Medal of Honor games. I just got kinda sick of the ww2 genre. Also Deus Ex, and Mafia are quite good.

Multiplayer: Battlefield 1942 can be fun. UT2003 is fun for awhile but can get boring and makes me a little tense. Wolfenstein also has decent multiplayer.

I commend your courage for quitting eq. I sold my account last year cold turkey. It was hard to stay away, but I am cured. Don't go back to the game in the long run you will thank yourself.

I also recommend trying some real role playing games as well. It is nice to have a story.

NWN is a good RPG. UT2k3 tends to get me on the edge of my seat as well but that doesn't bother me. I just started playing bf1942 and on servers where ppl play as a team it's fantastic. I used to play DoD and it's much much much better than that.

I would say Ut 2003 for its gr8 gametypes and gameplay and second one is MOHAA and MOHAA Spearhead coz of its realism in weapons and stuff , it also has many sites with unofficial maps to download and play , MOHAA also has good gametypes in it , so go for these two THE ARE THE BEST , for MOHAA spearhead maps go to mohelite.com to download more maps
