My friend tells me that Intel has made a new processor that needs very little energy to run (and therefore is good for laptops) It has something to do with Centrino, but I'm not sure what it's called. Anyone know?
Ed- I looked a little bit and surprise surprise, it's called an Intel Centrino processor. Sorry for wasting space, someone delete this thread.

yeah, the centrino's pretty weird. half a P3, half a P4, and extremely low power consumption. coincidentally, the performance seems to be right in between as well.

Oops wrong processors, I figured out that's it's the centrino (before you did, but thanks) My friend just wanted to know some stuff about it. It's most likely going to be used for PDAs or laptops (IMO).

That's called "Pentium M" I believe.

Pentium M is something else. I think it's for better multimedia etc. Not sure though, I didn't look at it that long. The Centrino is the low energy processor my friend was talking about.

the centrino is the pentium M :). not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4....just "M". it'd be the pentium 3.5 M actually.
centrino actually comes in 3 parts; the pentium M cpu, the 855PM chipset, and the PRO/Wireless 2100 PC card. together they make up the term "centrino".

Sorry redeemer, you were right.
it sure doesnt mean m for multimedia...
its actually for how it has the ability to change the clock speed and voltage in real time to ensure maximum battery life...so more cpu usage = more mhz and volts...and vice versa...lata yall

Actually, it's probably m for mobile. Or M for My God, It's full of stars.
