A music thread hasn't been made in a while. So what new (old) music you guys are listening to these days? what new tunes have come out that you guys like?

train of thought, 50 cent, hilltop hoods, dr dre, the prodigy are all still pretty good.

I started to take a liking to new dance tunes by various artists. Slow rythym and beat tunes

what sound systems or devices you guys use to listen to music? I still use the altec lansing 5.1 speakers with 1800w woofer on my computer, and my car stereo with twin 350w rms subs. But it still have no portable mp3 player

Collective Soul, Mike Doughty, DMB, Soul Coughing, Cake, John Butler Trio...it's a pretty diverse selection.

When I'm a home, I listen to everything on my Logitech Z-5500s. 505W RMS is plenty powerful enough when I'm sitting two feet away from 'em.

Eminem isn't music. It's poor standup comedy done to a beat. A little fag with a bleached head swearing and complaining about his mother leaves alot to be desired.

Check out http://www.thenarrow.com. Their 'lonely-lonely' is killer. Like Seether, more SA talent.

Those two are pretty far apart there, haha.

I'm listening to a bunch of different new stuff. I've been listening to the new HIM album a lot, along with the new Nickelback album (yeah I know, but the new album is actually very well written), the new Mudvayne album, new Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, etc.

At the end of the day, it's always the eurometal that keeps me coming back for more :)

Whenever I come to Canada...for some reason I stop watching TV and don't keep up with the news/media hype/music as much. So I actually don't know a lot of the new stuff that's coming out.

My music list now sourrounds itself a lot around soundtracks which are (if you pick carefully) kick ass. Examples are - Matrix, LOTR (1,2,3), Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, 2F2F...I still enjoy Eminem but once again mostly his old stuff.

I heard he brought out another guy on his label...Trick Trick? what's he like?

I'm liking the new Nickleback CD. After that, I just popped in my mix CD in the car that's got Adema, StaticX, Gravity Kills, and some Godsmack tunes. StaticX's 'The Only' is awesome and I still rock out to 'Push It'.

Favorite bands/artists of all time would have to be Asia, Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Greg Howe, Gravity Kills, and Stabbing Westward. I listened to Van Halen's Fair Warning CD just last week - it still rocks.

Thanks for brining that up. I love their music but I keep forgetting to download, I mean, purchase some of their stuff.

Filter, Marilyn Manson, NiN,Metalica, Rammstein, Kaizers Orchestra and MUCH more

I dont really have a favorite style of music,it all depends on my mood. some days I can listen to classical, like the russian things the best. other days I listen to jazz or somthing else...though I listen too metal the most I think. only one or two music styles i dont like, R&B/soul (like beyonce or whatever) and bad pop. And I hate Green Day, thats just shit!

edit: how do you firgure you have 1800w in small pc speakers mr. thread starter?
I have 2x75w SEAT(the brand) Njord, with 2x12"@150w subs that Im building now. Bad Technics 5.1 surround reciver @80w 8 Ohm each channal. back and center is just normal crap. build it myself, alot cheaper that way, love the speakers, hate the amp. :(

I listen to a whole lot of things, but the most recent stuff I've been listening to has been Beck's 'Guero', The Strokes, The Killers & Safety Scissors.

The new Gorillaz album isn't bad despite the overkill of feel good inc, I can't stand that song anymore. I'd also reccomend picking up Franz Ferdinand's new album if you're into that kind of music, though they went in a way different direction.

I "find" most of my music. :D

Nevermind what I listen to. I hate indie music. Indie rock to be exact. Damn, that stuff sucks. I tried giving it a chance to see what all the hype was about, so I listened to a whole bunch of different bands and they all sound the same. Crying boy vocals and shitty guitars. All the lyrics are like "Let me get my camera yeah yeah yeah whoa whoa whoa". Fuck off. It's the most boring music around. Now, good music. I can't stop listening to 3 Inches of Blood. Seriously, it's fucking great. http://www.3inchesofblood.com/

I like '60s '70s '80s music. I'm also into some SOAD songs, some Nirvana songs, Metallica, Korn, the big names. On the other hand I also like stuff like Frank Kvitta, Marco Remus, Miss Djax which are techno DJs. Electro is also a favourite of mine, so is classical music. And despite the fact that my overall post structure is total shit you get my point: I listen to a lot of music.

Now leave me alone, my muscles need rest. Poor bi- and triceps :(

SuperDavidGT
November 19th, 2005, 10:13 PM
i'd say an indie rock band is a band that does its own thing, and hasnt sold out yet, ie with an independant (indie) label and a producer that lets them play their own music, not wat they think the consumers want

a band from norway, not very fameous but alittle fameous, played at a india rock festival, and a documentar was made of it. was the freakiest festival I have ever seen, the sound guys was just messing around and the gig started 3 hours late without testing...hehe and all the bands was just playing cover music, this band wasn't. when they were finished the reporter asked around if they thought is was good, everyone did, but most said that they should have played some cover songs....hehe
