A very sad week.

My iPod nano got stolen, and my hamster died. :(

I went out to throw away the garbage, and when I came back, I found my door open. I didn't realize anything that went wrong until the next day. My iPod simply disappeared with its dock.

And Harkonnen died of an ear infection. At first, it got goo building up around one of its eyes, and by the time I took it to the vet, it has lost its balance and kept toppling over to one side. Vet prescribed the strongest antibiotics for him, but its condition did not improve. Finally, tonight around 1:30, it stopped breathing, and its heart stopped beating.

It looked so peaceful. Everything looks so peaceful when passed away.

Tomorrow I'm going to bury it in the yard.

Aw man. That's brutal, Yian - sad to hear about the hamster. The stolen nano makes me sick - people are assholes. Hopefully you'll get it back somehow.

I knew a guy who kept buying hamsters and drowning them in the sink. I saw him do it with two different hamsters. At least your dude didn't die like that. And there's another positive thing about this week. Since you're still young, chances are you're going to have a much more terrible week before you die, so in the future this week is going to seem pretty damn good.

Sorry to hear about that Yian. I had a gerbil when I was 7 yrs old and I was real sad when he died, so I know how you feel. My sincerest condolences.

And the iPod theft really sucks too. A co-worker of mine wouldn't let his 14 yr old daughter buy one even with her own money that she had saved. He just figured something that small, popular, and expensive would be begging to be swiped.

On the other hand, about the ipod, if it was in an apartment or hostel, the thief must have known you have it and know where you keep it beforehand, AND knows your routine to be so brave as to sneak in while there are people inside.

If someone you know "suddenly" gets an ipod soon, you know who the prime suspect is...

Sorry to hear that Yian. Both the finanacial and personal loss. I've never had my own pet per say but I can imagine its hard. I've always wanted a hamster ever since I played Baulder's gate so I feel for ya. Lock you doors though or at least have a contraption set up to shoot the first motherfucker to open it.

I also hope there's a way to catch the person who stole you I-pod...it's strange that they went right in and found it and only it to steal....makes me think they might have been in your place before and knew where you kept it and the dock ? ? ?

Thanks everyone. :) This week definitely sucks but there are somoe good things happening, too, so I think I will be fine. And yeah, I bet there are more shit ahead in my life waiting to get my ass kicked, so this is a good chance to learn to deal with them.

And about the theft, I think the chance is very good that these guys are going to steal something again. Yeah, I should keep my eyes on this.

Hey, once again, thank you everyone. I feel much better now. Feels a bit weird that it is gone now, and I am once again all by myself in my apartment. I have always been alone until this little thing came along. Now that, every once a while, I still worry about the lights I turn on, and the noises I make, just like I would disturb the hamster, only then to realize that it is really gone. Strange feelings.
