Okay, what happened? I heard (back when the Radeons first came out) shit about ATI's drivers being horrid. They supposedly fixed them so I got mine. It worked. But now, with every fucking driver lately I crash. Or I can't run this game. Or performance drops. Or this or that or some more bullshit!

Seriously, what the fuck is up with ATI and it's driver issues!? Am I eternally damned to the Omega Drivers version of 4.12 to run everything? Bull-fucking-shit![/vent]

I'm not so sure if the drivers are unstable as much as it is their driver installation package.

Here's what I had to do a few months ago when I was having issues.

1. I used DirectX Eradicator to unistall DX9 so that I could re-install DX9 "fresh".

2. I then used Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the ATI driver and software.

3. I booted into safe mode and did a search in the Windows directory for ati*.* and deleted all the files found in the search (WinXP might squak about the CD and special files deleted - just insert the CD).

4. After rebooting into normal mode, I cancelled the "Found new hardware" for the video card and then used the latest ATI driver setup that I had.

This worked for me. I also had sound issues, and crashes, in Far Cry for the longest time. I've got an Audigy 2 ZS and I found out that it didn't like my last PCI slot, so I swithced it to the second slot and Far Cry works fine now.

I think the NVidia drivers are better for automatically removing the old driver when installing a new one.

See if any of this helps.

Ah man... I'll have to do that tomorrow or Sunday when I get time...

Bull-shit.

I rarely had problems when I had my 9600XT in, and the problems I did have were very minor. Go me.

I don't know. Recently I've been having problems with explorer.exe hanging and having CTRL+ALT+DELTE it and run it again and... I'm seriously considering a complete wipe cuz this is getting to be too fucking annoying. Piece'o'shit technology! We had sticks! What was wrong with sticks!?

I've been having problems with the past 2-3 releases. Some games randomly lose video, but not really. The game still runs, but it gets minimized and a message pops about a failure asking me to "tell ATI about this problem". If I try to close the message the game shuts down, even though it was running fine. Kind of annoying, but fairly minor.

Are you overclocking or any other funny stuff?

I'm not overclocking anything. Would an old and almost broken down PC count as "funny stuff"?

I think you people just suck or something. I've never had any problems with any ATI card I've used.

My X800 Pro has always pissed me off since the first week I got it. It was an alright card when I first got it and the drivers only had very minor problems. Now I can only play a few select games smoothly with out any problems. I haven't been able to play HL2 straight through without any crashes since the first time it came out. Now with some newer games such as COD2 and B&W2 when I use fraps to take screenshots I see artifacts in my pics wtf? This card is a little over a year and I've never over clocked and I'm getting fucking artifacts. ATI sucks fuck them Canadian bitches, Nvidia all da way! I'm thinking about getting a 7800 very soon.

Where did you buy yours, an old gipsy? I have never experienced problems with my card, but why dont you try some modded drivers or the latest and if that doesn't work try going to the "store" and have the person who sold it to you eat it or something.
