Nice machines. I've always liked Sony's - they cost more but are built well. We have 3 of the PCG-GR250 Pentium4 laptops where I work. They are very solid and perform well and the cooling fan is quiet.

Which type of vaio tx are you getting? The price can go as high as $2,999... but all of their graphics department seem to be lacking. What's the laptop going to be mainly used for?

I wouldn't go Sony, if I were you. Their tech support absolutely blows, even when it comes to trying to find drivers for the machine. They're also overpriced for what you get - not so much as Alienware, but pretty nasty nonetheless.

the model i want is the tx. Using mainly for studying as i am doing a home learning course. But also want something light and portable for when i go away i can keep the course work up, check my emails. The battery power is good on the tx.
