I caught a showing of this last night, and I've gotta say that I'm pleasantly surprised. I was concerned that with Anne Bancroft passing away and with his age, that Mel wouldn't have quite as much influence on this picture, but it definitely has his fingerprints all over it. Nathan Lane is perfect, Broderick, while appearing a bit stiff and robotic in the beginning, manages to turn in a nice performance. Will Ferrell is, of course, wonderful, and Uma, despite being about nine feet tall, does well, also. All the people transplanted from the stageplay, Gary Beach, Roger Bart, etc. are clearly in their element, and if you watch carefully, you'll catch a glimpse of one of those Queer Eye dudes.

Lastly, to anybody going to see it, I give this advice. Stick it out through the first fifteen minutes (which are very slow), and you'll be well rewarded. They cut a song out of the beginning, and the show only suffers because of it. Aside from that, enjoy the show, and don't forget to stay until the very, very, very end of the credits.

Really? The original 60s movie with Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder is hilarious, and the musical took Broadway by storm a few years ago.

Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick are good guys, so I can only imagine it's reasonable. In terms of me going out and seeing it, the forcast looks hazy. I'd vote rental, simply because Kong and Narnia are in theatres.

Mel Brooks is a goddamn genius. I saw Blazing Saddles again a few days ago and laughed my ass off.

I havnt seen the broadway version of it, but my mom has and she said that the movie was a prety good traslation form broadway to the screen. I like that they used a lot of the people from the play on the film as well.

the movie was hilarious and the begining was a bit slow, but once that was over the rest went great.

i personaly loved the hitler birds
