I ran into this today and I've never been so happy about a site before.
Basically, you buy credit. The minimum is $10. Then you download mp3s at the quality that you want. I'm downloading a 10 song album @ 128kbps for $0.734. This is a lot cheaper than that iTunes shit and it's also better because you don't get that copyright protection shit. You get the mp3s, you do whatever the hell you want to do with them.
From the wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allofmp3)
As of January 15, 2005, the basic price for one gigabyte of downloaded music or video is 20 United States dollars.
There's even a client to download all the songs automatically, instead of having to download each one individually. Russia is my new favorite country because they made this.

Vladimir Dragunov, admitted in an interview with The Register that because of the structure of Russian copyright law, successful litigation against AllofMP3 appears unlikely. Haha! Can’t touch this!
It for some reason reminds me of that robbery story which occurred in Moscow. When a couple of people with construction equipment rolled up to the bank, just tore the ATM machine right out of the wall and drove away.
I don’t know why I’m reminded of just that story may be for the likewise radical approach I don’t know.

Then again, I never had trouble with kazaa lite either. What I don't get is how paying for songs of questionable legality is better than downloading songs of no legality for free.

Legality is legality. Questionable or not is arguable. Illegality however is an un-debatable fact.
The difference is measured in years (of imprisonment) and hundreds of thousands (UED, EUR, SEK take your pick). While in the first case it equals none in the second it just depends on severity of the said illegal act.

Assuming they're still bothering to do that, when they're not trying to enact ridiculous laws (http://techdirt.com/articles/20060120/1744211_F.shtml). According to your own idea of how legality is measured, downloading music is essentially legal. But I suppose if you're worried about being sued using their service makes sense.

Meh, I had a bad experience (namely worms, trojans, and spyware upon the FIRST LAUNCHING) of Limewire...

According to your own idea of how legality is measured, downloading music is essentially legal. Is it really such a revelation though? Be it otherwise places such as say iTunes Music Store and MusicNow would never exist to begin with and prosecution of AllofMP3 wouldn’t even be a matter of debate.
But I suppose if you're worried about being sued using their service makes sense. Why thank you. Good to know I’m still able to make at least some kind of sense. I’m not worried though since I don’t intend to be purchasing anything from them. After discovering the pleasures of Last.fm I doubt I'll be going back to the conventional approach of listening to music.

The point I was trying to make is that even with the RIAA suing people for filesharing you A) are extremely unlikely to get caught and B) can avoid being prosecuted if you don't share much. It's not a concern for me either, and not just because I live outside of the RIAA's influence.
