I can't belie ve this! I was the first to vote!
I voted Alienware because they use only the best parts, and they all work together well. They are expensive but price gives you quality.
Alienware is what I would go if I "buy" a computer. But I build my own computer. Back in the day when I was a dummy I can't do shit if my computer is fucked for no reason..... Thanks to my best friends in high school, (Iky, Kevin and D...) I learned 1 % of their knowledge and now I build my own computer!

Hey, you forgot to put an option for building your own. That's the way to go, IMO. You'll learn skillz and gain confidence and it builds character (hobbes knows what I mean!). Rhenna will tell you too, I'm sure. Plus, you can customize your case however you want rather than just have everything ready by someone else.

i think if he puts down options for pre-built computers......we should pretty much stick to advice on that. i don't think this goes for smapdey, but it can make a person feel pretty stupid when they're told to "just build one" (as if it were the easiest thing in the world).
for now, i'd say alienware. i just checked, and they're the only ones offering the canterwood chipset. i've heard from experience they've gotten sloppy over the past years, but hey, i haven't bought one in......a long long time.

For pure power and L33tness i'd go with Falcon Northwest, but for value i'd pick Dell :D

Well, apart from building my own which I don't want to do because if the fucker stops working for whatever reason I'm shit out of luck with any tech support people, I'm thinking about going with Alienware, they've got good tech support, nice computers that look cool and they're not as fucking expensive as Voodoo. I also have good xp with them, anyone got anything to say to this?

Don't quote me on this and I'm not gonna look it up for you (too lazy) but I think Falcon NW has a 3 year warranty where the Alienware only has a 1 year standard warranty? Anyway I would get a Falcon NW if I were you since you don't wanto build on ur own...(I would really build my own if I were REALLY you because the money saved is more than worth the risk of the fucker stopping working on you) And Falcon NW comes with Klipsch speakers instead of the crappy Logitech ones so thats a plus. And in my opinion cooler cases.

don't build your own then. I got mine custom built at a computer shop.
Alienware IS custom building it, it just looks cooler and gots three times more than just going to a shop and buying the same thing.

anyways...get an alienware, best value for a sweet computer, how cool are them new cases!, and they have the most updated parts list on the net, dell is kinda old stuff, ive seen a pc on falcons site supposed to be a value pc but it has a kt333 chipset on a new pc (bad choice) lol...but if u dont wanna hassle urself on building ur own but its easy, then go with alienware... they have the cheapest prices for a l337 gaming rig out there now...
and why didnt u think of www.abspc.com they have great gaming pcs at the cheapest prices u can get
but if i was u and you have the money then opt for the alienware you will be happy as they use quality parts and have great tech support ive heard

I didn't mean putting it together i meant getting it to work, and insuring that it will continue to work in the future. learning how to set up the bios, overclocking, getting networking to network, tweaking win xp pro! That's the fun!
I just wouldn't want to buy a comp and actually ask someone to help me when something wrong happens. Being some whiney bitch calling dell saying "XP won't boot, pl3ase help!!!111!!!111!!"
Dependance creates a weakness. (source:Bene Gesserit teachings)
Install a man's harddrive and he games for 1-2 years. Teach a man to install a harddrive and he games for a lifetime. Just think of what you'd do if you were the only person left alive after a nuclear holocost, and like in that twilight zone episode, your computer broke! You'd be all depressed, but I'd be like, n/p i've got plenty of time to diagnose....

yes, but we're a relatively small community, the enthusiasts, that is. when it comes to many people in this world, you couldn't teach them not to jam memory in the PCI slot if you tried.

yeah, but what IS hard, is not getting shitty parts that the company ships to you. NEVER buy from www.tigerdirect.com

I can honestly say I've never purchased a computer pre-built by anybody. Now it's easy for me and everyone else to say build your own, but you're the best judge of how much patience you're going to have, if and when there's a problem. And how much confidence you have in your knowledge of what's involved. (Hey, if somebody's not up for that it doesn't make him a bad guy, or anything.)
You couldn't give me a Dell. Don't ever try. Voodoo, Alienware and Falcon Northwest all make killer systems. I'd simply comparison shop between the three for the best price. I do know someone who owns a F.N. system; he is a serious gamer, and he's told me many times he would do it all over again in a heartbeat. For that reason I voted F.N. in the poll.

I suppose if you want to be weak, then go with the falcon NW. They have some cool cases and I'm gonna have to assume that someone too lazy to build thier own PC is also too impatient to enjoy the satisfaction that comes from case modding.

Go for Falcon for their prices, Alienware if you just want the best possible system without the care of spending your money for other important aspects(like internet!), and Dell if you want a computer that comes with alot of crap you didnt want on it in the first place.
But personally, I will never buy another computer, I'll build my own because I get the experience and save money.

Be freaking carefull if you buy Dell. They get off on selling systems with great procs and horrid RAM and video cards.

my first comp was a dell...u cant diss the older dell that I had, p3 800 128 800RD 20gb quantum, geforce 256 64ddr (I still love this gfx card its 5 yrs old and still gets 70-80fps in q3 at 1024/768) again, that was 5 years ago, and it cost 3200bux...after the first year I had to format it and they wouldnt help me out once I did. since then i've done my own problem solving, built my own comp, and took the A+ tests for the cert. now im in college finishing my first year with the same comp i got 2 years ago.
