Seeing how Gamespot, Gamespy and other game related website all have their entries in Wikipedia, I'm thinking about making one for Actiontrip. If you are interested, drop your ideas here. :)

Let's start by making an introduction paragraph. We need a paragraph of text that briefly describes what Actiontrip is.

Thats a loaded question, I must say. Well, i'll contribute a little:

- Small, independant gaming website, the brainchild of a bunch of serbians
- Despite the origin of the creators, the language used here makes more sense than the drivel in most sites
- Unbiased opinions, most reviews and articles might not have some of the constructive essence of what you find everywhere else but they still offer an honest opinion and a good laugh
- Home of the famous "Mornin'" post
- The forums are literally in a state of anarchy, where 90% of members are here just for the coveted and world famous "Babes Thread"
- Highly multicultural yet shockingly racist
- Could be regarded as the most successful site so far to unite pornography and gaming under one roof, except for the uptight assholes who forced 2lions to remove nude babes :(

EDIT: Not to forget the slogan "What we lack in quality, we make up for in stupidity."

:p

Don't forget to mention the astounding amount of homo-eroticism in the comments on the main site, most of which comes from (or used to) King Speedy, SOB and Smapdey.

That'd be fucking awesome. As long as you start a small article, I bet it'd be expanded out to something larger in no time.

alright guys, here is a intro. Sorry for my lack of writing skills. I only hope Smap is here... but i turst you guys will turn it into gold!

This is a revised edition with schnitzel_bob's revision.

Founded in 1999 by Uros Jojic, ActionTrip is an independent video-game related website dedicated to provide the latest news of the video game industry. It is famous for its witty, humorous news-journalism, and occasional sharp and personal remarks from the editors. It's slogan: "What we lack in quality, we make up for in stupidity."

Throughout the years a large community of regular visitors has grown. Visitors can exchange their thoughts on any piece of news posted on the main site by leaving their comments. Discussion often take place between readers in the comments, with topics ranging from politics to entertainment to sexuality.

In addition to the news, ActionTrip features original comics, a large collection of game-related files (cheats, trainers, patches, mods, etc.) It also offers preview and review articles to the latest titles released on the market. It also sports a forum with a mid-sized community.

ActionTrip also offers images of glamour models through its “babe of the day” section. A poll is also provided daily to let the visitors decide the “hotness” of the picture on a scale from 1 to 10. Originally it featured soft-core nudity in most of the images. Due to certain visitors’ complaints, there is now no nudity contained in the pictures.

ActionTrip offers a subscription-based membership service called ActionTrip PLUS!. Membership benefits include more babe pictures, faster FTP download speed, more high-quality game media, and an ad-free environment.

Discussions often take place between the comments and include many politics other than video games, such as politics and entertainment.

Here's an alternative to that:

Discussion often take place between readers in the comments, with topics ranging from politics to entertainment to sexuality.

Other than that, though, you summed it up nicely.

"Many of the new members to the forums are usually driven away within 7 posts to their Introduction Thread. Many infamous discussions on the forums have included Rape, Incest with Cousins, Hatred towards Pakistanis. Though a thread about the Muhammad(sp?) Cartoons was shut down to it being below the level of even the A-Trip forums."

Please take that last part as a joke 2Lions.

Thanks guys. Looks like we now have an intro body text. I believe it will be ready once we have a few more people look over it. So far it is still not complete, because it doesn't mention anything about the forum.

Once this is done, I guess we should move onto the more detailed descriptions. I hope 2lions or someone from the staff could provide the important dates of certain important events. These include:

- Some screenshot of the original design of ActionTrip when it was first launched.

- The date it incorporated the silver/orange theme.

- The date the forum was introduced

- The date when nudity was removed from the BOtD.

- The date when the new look was adapted, which wasn't that long ago.

Yian, a correction. The nudes weren't removed from the main page because of complaints from visitors. The advertisers threatened to remove their advertisements if the nudes weren't removed. Looks good though.

Awesome! I will correct it.

I'm going to make it into a stub in Wikipedia soon. Then everyone can go add their own information.

What is Uncyclopedia? It's a parody of Wikipedia that makes humorous entries, rather than factual ones. Like the entry on Nihilism (http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Nihilism). Apparently, I suck at humour, which isn't really news.

The only gripe I have with any of it is this section, simply because you use the phrase "also has/offers" too frequently. Everything else sounds good. :D

Alright, I tore the article apart and put it back together, wifiying the format and adding in a fair amount of content, pulling from the Media Kit and my shoddy memory. Overall, I just wanted to give the article a general sense of structure in order to make it easier to edit in the future.

"Users often will compete for the prestigious "First post", the first comment to the Mornin' posting. Individual user totals of first posts are tracked, and as recently as early 2006, the lifetime leader had accumulated over 200"

Speedy, your modesty amazes me :D

Good work tho, it looks good.

King Speedy
February 28th, 2006, 05:22 PM
Hey, I coulda said: "The all-time leader, King Speedy, has at last writing acheived an astonishing 228 first posts, a feat that perhaps may never again be equaled in this writer's lifetime".

Anyway, I consider it an important aspect to highlight, and the fact that I happen to have the most is irrelevant. Had we done this earlier when Smap was ahead, I would have said the same thing.

My next revision will probably include more of a focus into the community, with notes about controversy (I'm looking at you WGARA). To be honest, most of this should probably be written by 2lions, Smap, or somebody else with a better memory. I've been here for 4+ years, but my recollection isn't really crystal-clear beyond the last year-and-a-half or so. I'd like to include a section on Lacey, as part of the controversy topic, but I really don't have enough concrete facts to put something together. This is where the community editing becomes important. If you see something that you feel needs to be added or altered, feel free to do so. I (and probably a few others) will be keeping an eye on the edits fairly regularly, so in case anything gets out of hand, the article can always be flipped back to a previous version.

Yeah Speedy, definitely a "Controversy" section. Would be sick.

SuperDavidGT
February 28th, 2006, 08:43 PM
Lacey? Plz explain?

What about the Island? Subservient Overlord?

King Speedy
February 28th, 2006, 09:42 PM
Island will definitely be in there. I'm not so sure about Subserviant, though. While being a pretty engrossing issue for a bit, I'm not really sure if it serves a purpose in the article, at least yet. At this point I think it would be best to get a nice, large, organized and accuate base of unbiased facts down. After that, we can start addressing the smaller things.

As for Lacey, try to imagine a combination of Stormy and WGARA. Actually, now that I think about it, that's a remarkably accurate description. I'm sure some of the other elder members would have a few choice words about her as well. Basically, she instigated some of the ugliest arguments and verbal wars that the main page has ever seen.
