Punk and Techno!!!

Who do you think are the best Punk bands?(any type) And who do you think are the best techno artists?
Here's my list (brief):
Punk: Taking Back Sunday, New Gound Glory, Something Corporate.
Techno: The Crystal Method, Expansion Union, and The Chemical Brothers. uhhhhh can't think of any other ones at the moment :(

I dont want to burst your bubble but none of those bands are punk. They are pop. If you want some real punk you need to go for the older bands because quite frankly the punk is dead. Even bands that made punk what it is ie: Bad Religion, NOFX, etc, don't have the same kind of music they had when it was really punk.

I don't want to piss you off, but this is my opinion from a "grown up" punk listener. Sure the radio can call it punk, but I don't think that it is. I know I will get flamed by all the kiddies for this.

I actually like Taking Back Sunday for the most part, but I don't like it how people call things that are just rock music punk.

As far as punk goes I like Bad Religion the best... not so much their new stuff cuz they are startin to sound like old guys. Back in the day I used to like the Vandals alot and even some NOFX here and there. I also like AFI but they are more hardcore.

As far as techno I am not really into it but I like Oakenfold and Darude.

Nah im only 17 and I agree with you magical fruit. I dont mind sometimes listening to music by the likes of blink182 etc, although I hate new found glory, but I dont consider that stuff as punk which is fine with me as I dont try and call myself a punk as a lot of people I know do and listen to all that sorta stuff. One of my friends, hes only 16. but hes real into the punk scene. Wheres all the chains belts etc, truly believes in the punk views of anarchy etc and listens to all sex pistols, dead kennedys, rancid, misfits to name a few. So If you wanna know my fav punk band I guess itd be rancid. Techno id say prodigy

that one darude song is the greatest club song, IMO. as far as techno goes, i'm into paul van dyke, tiesto, and ATB (trance, techno, electronica, eurodance....whatever :rolleyes: )

Punk is a state of mind. Not just a music genre. Most people say it's dead; that's partly true, for the mainstream. Though it's still alive in different forms if you believe it is.

It was killed when bands sold out and new bands came along and proclaimed themselves punk (Avril Lavigne, Blink182, Sum41) becuase they thought they were something they weren't. Also, people are too fucking lazy to contribute something to it. Too many people just sit back and try and to be political when really they're just the same as the "majority" they "hate"... it's just these kids like to look stupid and not know why they're doing it.

oh boy, I've heard this argument before......but I think it kinda depends on when you were born and what "punk" was around during your time. Like I consider The Clash as the real original punk. but the punk i'm asking for is punk today, it's changed to become more pop but it's still not really pop (New Found Glory is begining to annoy me though). eh, what can you do music is changing from waht it used to be 5-20 years ago and now punk has to apeal to a diffrent audience now.

No disrespect hobbes, i like most of the bands you posted, but they are what i think classifies as emo, if someone mentioned that before, sorry, didnt read all the way through. as for best punk, i agree with nirvanafan: Propaghandi (Ska sucks l337 song), The Clash, NoFx, The Used, Smut Peddlers(to some extent), and Sparta

Techno- TCM, as everyone knows, they are the ultimate

Sparta is good definitely get the songs "Mye" and "air"

Also my favorite band is The Juliana Theory anything off their "emotion is dead" album is awesome.

If you want something more "punky" try out Millencolin

for something a little off beat get some "Reggie and the full effect"

For some poppy stuff try "Saves the Day"

Good stuff: Jimmy Eat world, The Living End, Noise Ratchet, Twothirtyeight

Oh for some hot chick music check out Denali....this girl is so fuckin hot.

I'd have to agree that "punk" today isn't really punk, it's shit. Then again, nothing even compares to the Rolling Stones or other great classic rock artists, if you think anything is better than that you are wrong.
