Does anybody out there know how to make freight trips for industry short? When I hold the question mark over them, the little info box says that it's long. when i put a freight train stop near them and a connected railroad to it going off the edge of the map and connecting to sim nation, it still says that the freight trips are long.

Plop a seaport in somewhere, and run the track up to the seaport. No station needed. You should then get shorter trips. Also, you need pretty short trips to your com areas from your industry, so put in a freight rail system between them too, but don't bother putting train stations in in industrial areas, they have their own system to get stuff on the train, saving you cash and space.

thanks. i'll test out your suggestions and probably not be able to stop playing for a few hours. That game is addictive as hell.
