Not sure if any of you know about demos, if you don't here is a explination:

A demo is a program that displays a sound, music, and light show, usually in 3D. Demos are very fun to watch, because they seemingly do things that aren't possible on the machine they were programmed on.

Essentially, demos "show off". They do so in usually one, two, or all three of three methods:

- They show off the computer's hardware abilities (3D objects, multi-channel sound, etc.)

- They show off the creative abilities of the demo group (artists, musicians)

- They show off the programmer's abilities (fast 3D shaded polygons, complex motion, etc.)

Demos are an art form. They blend mathematics, programming skill, and creativity into something incredible to watch and listen to.

Good places to get demos are:

I've attached two demos to this post so you can see what i'm talking about. Its not a virus, so if you don't trust me go to hell.

how do they fit in such a small filesize?

I have no idea, they use some type of crazy ass compression. There are bigger demos, the biggest i've seen is 11Megs. I only put these here because they are small.

questions:

1) what are the small texts in the scene? Why are they there?

2) they kept freezeing up or skipping during the play...

Some demos have poetry (sp?) in them, others just have text related to the demo. Most demos have shout-outs to other groups that make demos. And pretty much all the demos i've seen are very wierd, so don't bother asking questions. Just look at the pretty graphics, and listen to the music.

If the demo is skipping or puasing every now and then, one of two things is wrong.

1. Your system can't handle it, some demos are more intense then they look.

2. Old drivers, crappy video card, not enough memory. Many other things can probably be cuasing it.

Well, my system has P4 2.6Ghz and a 9700 pro video card, and 512 mb DDR... so there souldn't be any problem with that... Might be the sound...

I've seen some of those before when there used to be a place at demonews called.. crap.. anyways, it hosted lots of new demos. But they went under awhile back, so it's nice to see some new ones. I'd download the bigger demos but I'm on dialup. I hate dialup. I would burn my modem if I could, but alas I CANNOT.

Huh, that's cool the demo scene is getting more legit. I remember some cool demos from the warez scene.

The Tupperwarez scene that is!
