Microsoft plans for wide-open spring 2007 launch.

March 30, 2006 - The next Halo is coming in March 2007. According to a Microsoft source who asked to remain anonymous and a second source close to the company, IGN today learned that Microsoft will publish the next Halo game (as predicted in January) in March 2007.

When phoned, Microsoft declined to comment. While the holiday season remains the most important set of months to publish a game, the first calendar quarter of the year is proving to be bigger and more prominent in sales. Microsoft intends to innovate, challenge traditions, and to use its own "playbook" (as Microsoft's J Allard has said time and again), and slotting Halo 3 (or Halo Forerunners, or whatever April Fool's gag you choose) in March 2007 is likely to shift consumers' priorities. That anticipation will overlap with the first few months of Sony's and Nintendo's launches, cutting into their building stages, and shifting eyes toward and opening wallets for Xbox 360.

By theoretically shifting Halo to next spring, Microsoft thus allows third-party companies a better chance to shine independently of Bungie's uber shooter during the fall 2006 season. One must wonder, however, why the game wouldn't come out simultaneously with the movie, due in summer 2007. But if Halo 3's alleged March release date is officially confirmed, perhaps the game will leave questions for the movie to answer.

Expect more Halo 3 news at E3, where believe Bungie's game will premiere in video form.

The whole Halo 3 / PS3 launch thing was more of a marketing metaphor than anything. MS was basically saying they would have something to combat Sony when the console came out. Well they have a year lead and quite possibly a lower cost as well. Also MS will be bringing some quality X360 games only out as well, Mass Effect, Too Human.

For right now due to UE3 tech and also it coming out in a few months. E3 will hopefully put some more of these games into the main spotlight though, but if Halo 3 gets the video unveiling than the others will probably be overwhelmed byt the MS/Bungie Hype Machine that is Halo. I hope Bungie has learned from its mistakes with Halo 2 and makes Halo 3 both an excellent SP and MP game like the first one was, for the consoles.

The answer's on the limited edition; because they're a bunch of lazy ass cunts.

Now there is rumour of a "prequel" game before the "sequel". We've suddenly gone from two games to three, and to a possible four.

Chill dude. Bungie is making the game, let them do whatever the fuck they please which includes putting cliff hangers. That's one thing I don't get. Suddenly, just because Halo was a good game and created a fan base, Bungie loses the right to do as they please. I really don't get all the hype about halo yet. I Cursed for not having an xbox to play it, and when it finally comes for PC, It's nothing of the other world. Nothing new nor innovative in my opinion.

For Rakusus' sake its okay to re-invent the wheel at times. So what? All future game developers are denied to the right to make games because someone already made something similar. If anything its people like yall that stiffle game development. You complain like fucking dogs and often, rare gems go unnoticed because oooh the graphics are under parr or some shit like that.

It was a very good FPS when it first came out. Great graphics, good gameplay, somewhat compelling story. Those two years that it took to get to the PC though, the game became just became your standard FPS. You can't expect a game to really compete compete with triple-A titles coming out 2 years after the game was actually released.
