I'd say I was drunk, but I wasn't... This has to be the strangest thread I've ever made. In order to clarify my insanity, Aiel are a race of desert-dwelling people from the series "The Wheel of Time"

I'll go hang myself now

I know the people of whom you speak. They are much like us in many ways but to compare us with them is like comparing yourselves with cavemen. They know not of death stills or stillsuits and have never even seen the Old man of the desert, Shai-Halud. Bless the maker and his water. Bless the coming and going of him may his presence clense the world.

Sorry. Talking in character there. Seriously though, I'm a huge fan of WOT and Dune. I like them both as well, but I think the Fremen would win if they fought each other. Not only are there Millions of Fremen but they also have Shai-Halud on thier side. Both the God and the physical representation. The aiel can channel but channeling only gets you so far. Also, the aiel would freak during a Corilis storm and the flesh would be rended from thier bones. Yes, they have sandstorms in the deep desert but not as bad as on Arrakis.

Also, the aiel do not have stillsuits. By Fremen standards they lose an insane amount of water on a daily basis.

Aphremen, I'm well aware that the fremen are much more advanced then the Aiel. I just like the Aiel more. And I was not in my right mind when I made this.

Anyways, you know the training course in Half-Life? At the end I killed everyone with a crowbar, destroyed the automatic guns with my machine gun, and escaped. It was pretty funny... and if you hit one of the soda machines it breaks and a bunch of cans fly out.

That's fun. Actually, in some ways the Aiel are my fave, since they haven't thus far declared Jihad on anyone who doesn't follow Rand. :D
[EDIT] Dude it's awesome that someone else is a dune and WOT fan out there, ROCK ON! I'm probably a bit nerdier still though, because I actually own an official Dune CCG t-shirt.

I still need to find a copy of the Dune books though. I never actually met anyone who had read them... That's pretty cool :D

Used book stores are a great place to buy 'em. You may even luck out and get a first printing hard copy or something. I have a first printing of Chapterhouse Dune but I hope to find the rest eventually.
