I dont' care about the name as long as the gameplay is still good and it brings new stuff to the console arena, not some cheap gimmicky thing like the Virtual Boy was. I can understand why Nintendo went with the name but it requires too much explanation to deliver its "Console Mission Statement". If Nintendo wants to appeal to everyone here's a term they should have used going into the naming decision meetings, KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Sorry Nintendo most Americans don't care about the achievements Wii will achieve and how the two i's represent not only the two controller scheme of the unit but also the two players. We aren't all educated the same way Japanese kids are. NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Nintendo DS all simple and can explain what the console is in the name itself. I'm not boycotting the system now, nor am I vehemently against Nintendo for picking it, I just want to know who the braintrust was at Nintendo that got to pick the console name.
