Could you stand to have a tube hdtv, or were you really set on a flat-panel?

That tv is ok but there are better ones for less. Plus that tv only supports 720p resolutions. My lcd tv supports 1080i and hdtv looks amazing on it. The 360 supports up to 1080i resolutions so you might want to look for a tv with a higher resolution due to the fact that higher resolutions offer more clarity and detail.

The TV supports 1080i as well. Any TV designated as a HDTV is required to support both 720p and 1080i formats. If you want to even think about running a computer on it then you will want a progressive resoution rather than an interlaced resolution. 1080p > 720p >1080i in my opinion, especially for fast moving images.

I'm off to college next year and I'm wondering what you guys would reccomend for a dorm television. I know I'll want something flat and large, and of course it has to support HD. Other than that, I guess a picepoint under 1000$ is prefered. Then again, I'm also looking at simply getting a kickass monitor/telivision instead of a TV between me and my dormmate. That way we don't have to worry about selling it to one another when we move out and it covers my need for a new widescreen monitor as well.
Thoughts?

halomizer, i have a 360 and bought a HDTV specifically for that purpose. i've been told DLP technology is on the outs because the rights to that technology is owned by texas instruments, and manufacturers don't like paying royalties to them for the use of it. As well, DLP technology uses moving parts, so it can be more prone to failure after prolonged use. Plasma TVs look amazing, but are subject to screen burn-in if you're not careful. Of course it's up to you, and I'm not a TV expert, I'm just relaying the information my co-workers have told me. (I work in an electronics store as a network service tech)
At home I have a 42" Sony Grand Wega, and I love it. It's LCD projection, so no moving parts and no screen burn-in, does up to 1080i, so it looks great in hi-def, and it's really responsive when playing games.
i guess this post *is* kinda late, but I figured I'd offer my 2 cents anyways.
good luck.

I have a 50 inch Grand Wega LCD RP and I love it as well. The newer generations are even better. I play computer games regularly on it and HDTV looks great.

I finally got one. I lowered my standards and picked up a 27'' widescreen lcd. It's made by proview and the picture on it is amazing. Picked it up for only $700 CAD. A great buy in my eyes.

I just bought an Olevia 27" LCD HDTV for $555 USD shipped.
Refurbished, but oddly enough looks like new. 100% Pleased.

I have a 107cm phillips LCD HDTV with ambi lights and pixel plus 2 technology. Also ful of other features. We paid $8,000 (Aus). Thats around $6,000 US. Worth every cent, and then some.
I'm not hooking an xbox-360 to it though. I'd rather eat shit and die.
