2lions posted this news at the main site, and I though it would be interesting to know how you guys feel aboutit:

Not PC gaming news, but still rather interesting. Apparently, Sony America is uncomfortable with publishing the Sony Japan published Rule of Rose (http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/ror/), as they feel the game contains inappropriate "erotic" themes. The game's director Shuji Ishikawa fires back: (http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20060607/sheffield_01.shtml#)

"Right, the erotic aspect you mentioned earlier isn't supposed to be the main theme. There are definitely erotic parts to it, and some things that might make people uncomfortable, but it's not the focus. It shouldn't be a problem. It's about intimate relationships between all people, not just children, not just girls. There will be people who don't understand it, but others will.

"And it won't be toned down for the west."

It is strange that how the supposedly more tranditional Eastern culture has a more relaxed and open-,inded attitude towards video game. My opinion on it is that, perhaps in Japan, video game industry has a bigger community and are more mature and diverse in terms of taste and preferences. In US. video game s, like everything else that's going on (from gay marriage to animal abuse) could be used as a political tool.

I would love to see this game come to PC.

What can I say, the west just doesn't share the lolita complex with Japan. And in my opinion it doesn't have as much to do with politics as it does with respect. If you're unwilling to respect the mentality, the mind set of the people youre presenting your product to don't be surprised by the backfire.
ESRB will be all over this shit if it indeed is what media is making it out to be. After the GTA:SA backlash they cant afford any more slip-ups.

I think it's bullshit how gaming is crippled because of politics in the west. You don't hear about this kind of crap happening as much in Japan. In the US politicians jump on games because they're an easy target. Of course, the corporations don't want to insult the politicians, so they reconsider what they release. All because some self-serving cunt needs a stepping stone. The result? Gamers miss out on what could have been a great game.

I don't care what is included in games as long as I'm told about it.

Give it an NC-17 rating or whatever: I'm an adult so it's a moot point now.
