They pay you to do what they say.

Tell yourself that your boss has a small dick and watches kiddie porn while a fat dominatrix sticks her foot up his ass. If it's a woman then switch it around.

Xenophage, I can totally relate.
Last year I worked two summer jobs. One that I had for the previous two years and another at a golf course as a glorified janitor. The work sucked. The pay wasn't great. But I could have handled that if my boss hadn't been such a fucking prick.
I was better than him in every way. I was smarter, stronger, better looking, faster... I was his superior in every way but the one that counted. I should probably have jumped ship when alot of people I know would say "Oooh, that guy" whenever I mentioned this guy's name.
Anyhow, after three months, I went home one Sunday morning because I was sick. He called me the next day (on my day off) and accused me of being hung-over (which I wasn't). Then he called me a liar when I said I wasn't hung-over. I have my limits: you want to call me a liar, then fuck you. I wanted to swear, but instead I just said "Fine, if you don't want to believe me, I'll make this real easy for you: I quit."
Sorry for the long winded post. The point is, if you hate your boss, don't waste your time expecting it to get better. Quit. Srsly, you'll thank me.

The man's right.
My story: Last job I had they stopped giving me hours because I was giving one of the managers lip and I was too much of a lazy bastard. I never came crawling back. Instead I pulled a few strings with friends and landed me a similar job in a similar kind of bar - except larger, and busier, and the bar manager is a good bloke and we get on well, so he's helping me fast track up the chain. His boss is a wanker, but not my problem coz he's never on the floor, and the chick in charge of the restaurant bar is an absolute bitch, but I'm same rank as her now and do more hours, so I have the power to tell her to STFU. But she reports to the restaurant manager and I'm a bit standoffish with her. Feminist scum.

I did that kind of thing with my first job, but I'm 25 now and I can't go through life telling my booses to STFU. Gotta come to terms with the scene and like DF said, we gotta work hard nuff till we're our own bosses.

make your boss dependent of you (through good onest work or ather ways) ... after a while maybe you will be too important for the firm, maybe training somebody else will be far too expensive (or he is a cheepscape) , maybe you will find something you shouldn't have about the firm or him...
ps.about the problem with the feminist/chick in charge/scum ... I think you should treat her equal with man ... smack her ... you whould be a feminist hero :)

I am a boss...lol.... My brother and I own a retail store and we employ 2 delivery men, an accountant, a manager for our main-street building and also 4 flooring installers. It's Good to be Boss.....LMAO.
And you are all right, it sucks to work for someone else.... I've done it many times in my life. My brother and I are pretty good bosses though, our employees can bullshit with us...and with our delivery guys, we know they bust their asses off lifting heavy stuff and such - on some days they don't get a chance to take a break or relax a bit.
So if between deliveries if they do get a chance to sit down and watch a little t.v., we don't expect them to jump up and "look" busy just because one of us walk in. They just have to jump up and look busy if a customer does though. ;)
Or, sometimes, they they need to go do something for their own selves...they can do it on 'our time'...that's fine with us...as long as their personal errands are completed before the next delivery is scheduled. We don't make them punch-out on a time-clock for shit like that.

Just make sure they don't take it too easy Stormy cos humans are fucked like that. You give them an inch and they'll take the entire hand

So far we've had excellent results with the 'honor system' for lack of a better description.
They know that if they get their store chores done and there is say...20 minutes before the next delivery they can without repercussions...sit down and watch some t.v - and not just have to look busy for the sake of looking busy -- or they can leave the store and go do some personal errands of their own and not have that time deducted from their hourly wages.
It's not that big of a deal to us to allow them a little freedom to do stuff like that...saves them from having to do a bunch of running around on a lunch hour...and they appreciate that fact. Allowing little perks like that can go a long way in making a work place a nice place to be, instead of someplace you dread having to be at everyday.
The guys are happy for the little bit of slack...in not being chained to their job all day long...and in return, when they do work...they go at it- work hard and they do the job right. They know if they get their chores done...they can sit back for a bit and watch some t.v. and get paid for it...lol.
But they also know if they start getting sloppy in their work or not getting it done...that we notice shit like that too...and t.v.'s can be turned off just as quickly as they were turned on. :D

I have a problem with authority figures too. But so long as they give me the pay/compensation, I'm all good. And if you work hard enough, you'll climb up the ladder and pretty soon you'll get to boss people about instead.
Downfall's sig with the crazy bunnies is addictive to watch.
