I will go get one as soon as it start supporting keyboard and mouse.
)
BTW, I think I have mentioned that my sister is a total idiot when it comes to gaming (and pretty much everything else.) She once thought that I was the only "dumbass" that uses keyboard and mouse, because all she has seen were people playing console games with the controllers. I know I must have mentioned it a million times, but I want to mention it everytime I have a chance just to make her look bad. :D Kind of like gettiong back at her for calling me a "dumbass."
... ...
Well, if you think about it, I might really be stupid, because I don't know how to use a controller.

I tried Fight Night and Perfect Dark on my friend's 360. The console looks surprisingly good on my crappy TV, but that's it. There's too much focus on Live and Live isn't really that great. It seems like a rip off and there are too many "community" features. It doesn't offer anything to me as a gamer. After trying it I'm very sure that there's no way I'm going to actually pay for one. My main problem besides the suckyness of Live is the cost of games. Why is there a $10 price increase on most of them? The two I played are full of advertising anyway (Samsung logo in Perfect Dark? What the fuck?), so "increased production costs" is bullshit. They're asking for too much money with the extra content crap as well. Oh, and $100 for a 20gb hard drive? Go fuck yourself.

It just freezes after about 1-2 Minutes. No red ring around the lights or anything. And its pretty rare, but not 1 in a million. Im have to pay 130 Dollars to get it fixed, because the warranty was only 90 Days long.
Dark_Swordmaster

It just makes life easier if it's all amalgamated into one, easy to use system, rather than a million games with their own servers and different programs needed to chat, etc.
I thought that was the whole idea of consoles - all the hard and fiddly shit is done for you, so just have to pop a game in and play.
tisl
June 30th, 2006, 04:15 PM
That's the benefit of consoles over PCs, yes. But I'm talking about Live. People pay subscriptions just so they can be allowed to play online. And it's not like you're given dedicated servers, you're playing on the other guy's connection! Besides that, all you're given is content downloads and some stat tracking. I called him a noob because he said "the reason I own an Xbox 360...the defining feature". Basically, you're paying a subscription to download files. In the end, I don't see the difference between Live and FilePlanet.
I might have missed some features, since my experience with Live is, admittedly, limited.

Actually, Xbox Live uses dedicated servers.
Hence why you have to connect to Bungie and EA before you can play.

Good point. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if it balances against the need to constantly upgrade your computer. If a console generation lasts 4 years, and you pay, say US$200 every four years for a console (assuming your patient enough to wait till it's at a justifiable price) and $50 per year for online subscription, that equates to $100 a year (minus games). How much do you guys spend on average, per year, on your PCs (again, minus games)?
Vlad

I don't own an xbox360 but I have had the pleasure of it crashing on me on three consecutive occasions. Twice in the shops and once at my friends place. Thats three random xbox360's that decided to crap out on me after 3 minutes of play.
A few days later I learnt that there is an accessory designed to keep your xbox360 cool during 'intense gaming sessions'.
When I saw this I cracked up laughing and said to myself "Xbox360, sux balls. Yes, yes it does. It overheats and crashes..."
That's my story regarding the xbox360, hope youz enjoyed it.

Well games are definately cheaper for pc (they are free through bittorent, especially the shitty new releases that don't deserve to be bought), as for how much is spent on hardware, well my comp is not a gaming console, not only do I play games, but I do about 50 other things, that you can't do on your console.
Thus comparing a video gaming console and a pc is like comparing apples and oranges. The only thing you can really compare in terms of gaming is the games and their prices, and as for pc, as I said, games on pc are often much cheaper (the prices for pc games often fall very quickly) and pc's always get a steady stream of new games too.
PC gamers are very different animals, we work and we play, we don't just play. Consoles are for kiddies and for intense four player gaming sessions (think smash bros melee on gamecube-now theres a console that never overheats, we once played 9 hours non-stop) :)

Makes me laugh when insecure PC "Gamers" feel the need to chime in with their nonsensical insecure rambling about how anybody that plays games on a console is a "kid". You don't enjoy the majority of games on consoles? Fine, you do that quitely by yourself. Don't try to compensate for your small penis by belittling others.
Real gamers don't discriminate, they play games because they love them regardless of platform.

Indeed. I was just probably over-generalizing a bit. I do enjoy MANY console games and play them regularly. However, in terms of gaming, pc's shouldn't always be compared side by side, they do much more than just games. Thus my earlier somewhat erronous kiddie statement, I didn't mean it that way, I just meant that guys that need their comps to do work will also mostly play games on their comps, whereas kids usually tend toward consoles because they are all about games and little about work.

Dead Rising is alot of fun, and it does a few things very well - firstly, I like the camera mechanic, how you gain bonus prestige points for good shots. I like how the plot is laid out - that there's no guarantee that you will find out everything there is to find out. The plot literally unfolds as you complete the right quests. I like how it actually captures the feel of a Romero zombie flick - how everything is useable as a weapon, to different effects. I remember one bit where I picked up a box of sodas and was chucking them, one at a time, until I ran out.
On the down side, the graphics really aren't much to speak of compared to other titles on the 360. The facial animations just seem wrong - and the general animation, even for the living characters, is pretty zombie like. Also, I really don't like games with time limits. I understand why and how they wove it into the plot - but really, if I wanted to stick to a schedule, I'd go to work.
Dark_Swordmaster

Pretty much. The game _does_ give you the option to save the status of your character <level, stats, et cetera> and start over from the beginning with it - makes the fights easier, but it's still repetitive.
