.. but only after they attacked Israel first and kidnapped two of their soldiers, btw wtf is up with the kidnappings, that's three soldiers dragged off in three weeks.. larger units needed.. I think so.

Now i'm no warmonger but I like turning on or reading the news and seeing war related shit going on.. I promote the Israeli offensive into Lebanon and I hope it continues until they rescue their two soldiers.. if they should be killed I also promote whatever Israel unleashes on them.

Ok that's all - now remember that i'm not a warmonger.

The scenario regarding Israel in the middle east is getting irritating. I'm sick of this endless sycle of violence on all sides involved.
I don't support stupid idots strapping explosives on themselves and slaughtering Israelis on a bus, and I don't support stupid idiots dropping 250kg bombs on civilian buildings and slaughtering palestinian families.

If all sides don't show restraint then there is only one direction and that is escalation. The sad thing is, in an area like the middle east, you escalate too much and the whole place goes up in flames. Combine this shitty scenario with the one in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we have ourselves many years of death and bloodshed.

Having escaped from a war-torn shit-hole that tore itself up over the disease called nationalism (former yugoslavia) all I have to say is, there is nothing positive that is going to come from this.

Nothing.

The attacks on Israel won't stop after the dust settles. The attacks on the factions surrounding Israel won't stop either.

The most we can do now is let them slaughter each other, and when all sides get tired of dying, maybe they will come to some sort of agreement and we will have peace for another couple of years.

I'm getting tired of Islam. The world would be a much better place if it was conveniently disposed of in a mass grave. This is coming from someone who has been born and raised in the Middle East, not a clueless American.

I'm not really upset, I frankly don't care what happens, since international intervention is inevitable, and that will probably fix things as long as the US stays out of it. I said what I said because I have more experience with Muslims than you do. I've been living around them all my life. They take religion more seriously than Christians and Jews do, and are more motivated. You walk up to the average Christian and you tell him "God sucks" he'll just insult you back and walk away. An average Muslim would probably assault you. While the average Muslim doesn't support what the terrorists/jihadists are doing, most fundamentalists do. All the instability in the region is really being caused by Muslims and Muslims alone. Israelis just want to live in their little country, but the Muslims keep shooting rockets at them and kidnapping their people. They don't want a compromise, it's either "them or us" to Muslims. Look at Lebanon, the only group still causing trouble with Israel is Hezbollah. They kidnapped the soldiers and got Lebanon into this shit. The Lebanese people aren't even Arabs, for fucks sake.

Its become an all out war from what I saw today. The media is playing down the conflict, but massing tanks at Lebanese borders isn't really a sign of peace. Nor is bombing the shit out of airports and goverment buildings.

My own personal opinion, being an athiest, is that religion is the worst evil out there when it's so taken to heart that people feel justified in killing for the sake of their religion, or in the name of what ever god they are worshiping.

I know that Israelis just want to live in their own little country....but don't forget that there are people, muslims, still alive who OWNED land in that country before the land was forceably taken from them and given to the jews to creat the country of Israel.

The United Nations after WWII, was very brutal in this regard...they just looked at a map, sliced off a chunk and said...This Is the new Jewish State of Israel. Jews moved in, and were legally allowed to bulldose homes, did not compensate the original owners and they forced a large majority of muslims out of there and into surrounding countries. This pissed the surrounding Muslims countries off - that their fellow believers were treated so unjustly --resulting in all the crap that's happened since then.

From what I've read in many articles over the years, is that Israel, is also one of the worse countries in the world for the way they treat non-jewish Israelies....they make South Africa's Aparthied system gentle in comparison. If you are born in Israel, but not a jew...you have to have special passports just to move around inside your own country. You have to have certain work permits to work there and a lot of jobs are just closed to you because you are not a jew. You do not have the same rights to move about like Jews do in a country that you were born in...and frankly, I just don't see that as being any different than the way white people treated black people in South Africa's under the Aparthied laws.

Israel...is here to stay though...right or wrong as to how they (the UN) went about creating it. The muslim countries do need to just let it go...and Israel needs to start treating their own non-jewish citizens as equals. But I doubt that's going to happen...as there are also Christians out there who Want these conflicts to escualate so as to move forward to their Armaggedon...and the coming of their god, Christ. There are Christian's out there who are willing to keep pouring fual on the flames...supplying weapons, or money to Israel and encouraging their ways....so that these conflicts cannot be settled in a peaceful way.

Just my two cents.

I know that's how Israel, the country, was created, but what are they going to do about it? Israel is a pretty small country, and while it might not have been fair to take land from Palestinians, it could have turned out worse.

The muslim countries do need to just let it go
That's basically my point. Muslims are too caught up in fighting for Allah to be realistic. There's no way they can destroy Israel, and they aren't willing to give it up and stop causing so much grief. Israel has one of the most advanced armies in the world and international support. What do Hezbollah and similar groups have? Angry youth and RPGs.

My mother is a Bosnian muslim, my father is a croatian roman catholic, and I can tell you, it doesn't mean shit to me either, and I can also tell you, being an atheist, I have gone up to muslims (many of my friends) and asked them why they believe what they believe. They are much harder to offend than you give them credit for.

Indeed, christians get offended much more easily. And to top things off, christians come to my home and actively try to convert me with their door to door bullshit, you don't see muslims doing that. It's highly annoying.

No, you are wrong, muslims are not the cause of this conflict. Islam is just one factor of many, and it isn't even the defining factor. This is about the UN setting up a state on someone elses land, then pissing off and letting the newcomers and the original landowners (and I'm not talking about historical landowners, but the ones born there, living and present during the partition) going at each other's throats.

This is a situation created by the imperialists of yester-year, who partitioned a piece of land without regard to the impact on the existing demographic in the region, and the future repercussions any such impact would serve to fulfill. This was a major mistake from the get-go.

The only way to see the problem vanish now is to watch helplessly from the sidelines as people die and hope that some time in the distant future the cycle of violence somehow ends, either through some miraculous diplomatic exchange unseen before, or through the typical genocidal route, that we are so accustomed with, and indeed, so comfortable with, after the memory of ww2 has turned hazy enough for most of us in this new generation to not even have an inkling of what total warfare is like.

For the people living with the realities of such wars, it is hell on earth. It truly is.

Let's not use this ugly scenario to throw our prejudices and hate at one another, let's look look at it from the ouside in, and try to find where we went wrong in the past to come to this, and learn from that.

Mindless rage is as useful in the progression of civilization as is random chance. The architects, the engineers, the thinkers create, the ones consumed by rage destroy.

Although I share some parts of this view, and confess that the palestinians just need to let it go, I also have to point out that letting go for them is as likely as it would be for Israel to let go. After over 50 years of unsavoury ddevelopments, I don't think either side is prepared to let go.

And just to add, for your last point, Germany, end of ww1, was a beaten creature. She was bleeding, she was defenseless, she was humiliated.

It took from 1930-1938 to turn germany from that sorry state into the worlds most powerful land military force for at least the next 4 years. With this newfound energy, that was borne out of pure humiliation and rage originating in the past, germany was able to cause the slaughter of over 50 million people.

It just takes one very persuasive man with one very persuasive idea, and the rest will follow blindly. The status-quo is impossible to maintain forever. The most obvious mistake you can make is ignoring the future, while you analyse the present.

Muslims in the Middle East, Arab Muslims, are different. I know there are parts of the world where Islam and Christianity co-exist peacefully, but the Middle East was never one of them (except for a few isolated instances) because of that. How are they different? I don't know exactly. But Arabs are culturally more violent than other races.

This is about the UN setting up a state on someone elses land, then pissing off and letting the newcomers and the original landowners (and I'm not talking about historical landowners, but the ones born there, living and present during the partition) going at each other's throats.
Like I said, I acknowledge the unfairness of how Israel was created, but that was a long time ago. The UN is originally at fault, but it has to end sometime and Muslims need to realize that pissing off Israel, a powerful nation, isn't going to fix anything. That's why I'm blaming the Muslims for the cycle of violence. Israel isn't "fighting for God to destroy the infidels", they're an actual country now. They just want to do what any other country wants to do, develop, and they've done a damn good job. If the Muslims actually agree to a peace, I'm sure Israel wouldn't start any trouble as long as the Muslims don't do anything stupid like kidnap their soldiers and shoot rockets at settlements. You can't criticize Israel for reacting too harshly, this isn't like the US in Iraq. You can't let down your guard or go soft when you're surrounded by people that don't like you. Failure means death, not just a loss of resources.

The only way to see the problem vanish now is to watch helplessly from the sidelines as people die and hope that some time in the distant future the cycle of violence somehow ends, either through some miraculous diplomatic exchange unseen before, or through the typical genocidal route
There are Palestinians that want a compromise, some sort of peace. Do you think the average family supports all the fighting that's going on? The problem is that there's no leash on the terrorists, nobody strong enough to control them, and as long as that somebody is missing, the risk of genocide is obviously there. Lebanon wants peace, but nobody has the balls to restrain Hezbollah (read news regarding Lebanese politics of the past few months to see what I mean), and the entire country has to suffer as a result of their stupid and utterly pointless actions.

As for Germany, that is a different case. While it's possible, it's incredibly unlikely that it's going to happen with Palestine. They have no resources, and the international sanctions aren't helping. Also, there's no real government, rather, a bunch of different groups who all hate each other.

I agree with you tisl. You have described the situation accurately. Israel is surrounded by people that want to kill them. I feel they have every right to defend themselves and take action to eliminate the threats.

I'm sure Israel would rather have peace and would cooperate with any peaceful neighbors.

People who fight and kill "in the name of God" are doing no such thing.

They are instead blaspheming and sullying the name of God by claiming their cause is sanctioned by Him.

The hands of those who kill in the name of religion are guided by hate, fear, anger, spite, vengefulness, ignorance.... among others.

And i'm not even a religious person, exactly because religion brings the most conflict in the world when fanatics develop a superiority complex.

A) You live in Australia, the relationships between different religious groups are completely different here, that is a shithouse comparison.

B) Christians are more offended because they can't accept that they have no power in a state where they believe they should have power. They think Australia should fear God as they do, and blame all the bad things they see on the news on young atheists.

C) I agree. Goddamnit. I blame westerners for chucking jews in there in the first place.

I don't know about you guys, but what I see on the news seems to be quite the opposite of what you're all saying. The Israelis are just as bad as the Palestinians, if not worse. They're the oppressors, the invaders, the people throwing american made artillery into children's bedrooms while they sleep, bombing the shit out of a neighbouring nation's airports, etc. The Palestinians aren't exactly a pretty sight either - training their children to become suicide bombers, bombing schools, beheading prisoners on YouTube, etc, but when you think about it, the Israelis are the ones who should be the most ashamed of themselves.

From what I understand, the Jewish faith promotes peace, not the "eye for an eye" mentality. As Tisl said, Muslims come from an inherently violent culture, and the shit they get up to, when compared to what other anti-american arab nations get up to, is pretty standard. The Palestinians recruit their kids, telling them it's a good thing to die for their state, but at least they have a choice whether or not to fight - Israelis are forced into conscription at 18 years of age. I don't know what goes through the Israelis' minds when they decide to go fuck up some towelheads on the weekend, but to me it is easily the most illogical and irrational choice - they aren't defending themselves, they're always on the attack. They look for the little things, the small excuses and then blow them out of proportion.

They had a chance for peace, but now that Sharon's a vegetable and old Arafat's wormfood, I think a bunch of warmongers have just stepped into power on both sides and started a new wave of unnecessary violence.

Israel's military says four servicemen are missing after one of its vessels off the Lebanese coast was struck by a missile fired by Hezbollah militants.

The ship caught fire after it was hit by either a rocket or explosives-laden drone, the military said.

The ship caught fire, was badly damaged and had to be towed back to shore. 4 sailors are missing (probably dead) and a few civilian vessels in the area were also hit, either by missiles or more drones.
