From games to films

Well some of those game could theoretically make great movies, but they always screw it up. They try to make the movie for too wide of a fan base and then it ends up suckin.

They also rush the movies so that they can be released while the games are still popular... so you end up with a shitty movie or something that should have been better. Also not very many of the "good" movie makers want to attach their name to these movies, so you end up with some people you have never heard of. Oh well at least they can get Mila for a couple of these movies.

Milla Jovovich is a good actress. I saw her in Resident Evil. I thoughtit was good. never played the games though. somebody told me they were hard. American McGee's Alice is a good game and if they o it right it should be a good movie.

But I have to agree, how in the world are they going to make Pac-Man?

There are some titles in there with potential, but they usually screw this kind of movie up. (i.e. Wing Commander)

I must admit, I would have to know beforehand that any MechWarrior film was absolutely God-awful not to go see it anyway. Aside, from the titles that center on a single character, i.e. Max Payne, Duke Nukem, Lara Croft, etc., I think a good MechWarrior film would have real breakthrough potential. Most people liked the Mech-like stuff the "Empire" used in the Star Wars films, right?

And, as a "port" from game to film, I'd agree with wmgreer; given the subject matter, Resident Evil was decent. I've seen a lot worse. (Alien: Ressurection as an example.)

I wonder if a lot of these movies would have been better if they hadn't tried so hard to make it like the game.
