Ok updated pics, now includes my secondary monitor. After working on it through the night, I got many new things working one of those new things is being able to multitask. Only problem was that when I started playing CS:S to test it out, a friend IM'ed me, which of course dropped me out. So then I moved it over to the other monitor and was able to see when he responded while I was in-game. Except the problem is when I try to respond, as soon as I hit the text box to respond, I get dropped out of CS:S. Despite being on another monitor (like Windows still thought I was still on one monitor). So here's a question if anyone out there has done this before: Is it possible to run two active windows one in each monitor?

Not Windows (OS), windows (ie Explorer or things that appear in the taskbar).

Those are shots of each monitor simultaneously, except it originally came as one whole pic, but due to the resolution difference there was a "nothing" area.

As far as I know, you can only have either a giant, spanning resolution, which may do what you want (but I don't think it'll give you a seperate task bar and such) or you get dual view, with is the same as a spanning res. except more indepentant, which makes it awesome(r).



Better than the old day-glow blue, still rather lame due to lack of awesome desktop programs...


EDIT: Call me stupid. I suppose everyone on my AIM list would prefer their screennames NOT given to this community...

Its always been in dualview by Nvidia's drivers. Then I installed Ultramon which overrided NView and disabled it. Ultramon gave me the taskbar on my secondary monitor. But just like everyone else I can only have one active window. Thats what i want to change, but I understand why there could only be one at a time since the keyboard can't be fully working between two windows.

Well, for one thing, I haven't actually played Oblivion yet. So it's sitting on my desktop, just so I won't forget to experiment with it when I finally do get around to playing the game.

Hold off on the Zune for now, there are some features that either M$ or the community will eventually enable for us.. the Zune has alot of potential.


Btw don't be fooled by the Clix, see it in person it is actually quite small, it's all screen real-estate really.. the interface is unique and very simple to use.. I have played with one and that is the gift that my sister is getting for christmas.. Zune for myself and Clix for her, I am even debating getting a Clix for my mother also, it's that cute, chicks like "cute" things.. Zune for me, I win.

So, I just got a 21" Sony Trinitron for $55. 2048x1536 maximum resolution... of course I can't run my desktop at that because the text is so small it makes my eyes feel like they are going to explode (1600x1200 is the recommended resolution). I haven't tried upping the DPI, though... might make the incredible eye pain go away.

Either way, it's neat to be able to go to such a high resolution.

It helps stress me out and provides a painful reminder that I have: 29 math assignments, 1x 6-page essay, 3x 2-page essays, an 100 question practice final, 2x assembly projects, and 1x linux project, which I don't have, all due within two weeks (not bs'ing). Everything needs to be on my desktop. After that, I wipe everything off my desktop into a folder and start all over (hopefully during the break afterwards, I'll end up passed out on my cousin's pool table again). Anxiety is my game.

Another system would require a tremendous amount of thought. Apple has their whole dock system going, but some kind of extension of that and the Vista start menu, except maybe more dynamic so say a middle mouse click would open it up at the cursor regardless of where you are. Booting straight into a web browser could also be interesting as I always have one open.
