Honestly, though it is larger than the 360, and subsequently the original Xbox, it is very sleak looking.

$600 is too much for the whore.

Appearance doesn't really matter in the long run. You only appreciate it for the first few weeks, then it gets covered in dust and scratches and you don't really pay attention to it. We wouldn't have to pay so much money if they just threw their shit inside a plastic box instead of paying designers to come up with pretty designs. This is one of the few thousand reasons why computers are superior.

Edit: Plus, I don't like having something pretty in a shithole like this. I'd feel pressured into cleaning up occasionally.

Its big. I'll probably wait a year when they redesign it and put it inside of a tic-tac case. And then, after all the early adopters figure out first hand that it'll burn their houses down.

That's the only real regret I have with my 360. MS will be moving to the 65nm CPU size later this year. Probably the smaller die size and the possible price drop will be how MS is going to go against Sony.

Like the ps1 and ps2 revisions, there will be a smaller sleeker version released down thew track, after all the early adopters have been screwed over like always.

The xbox 360 is quite attractive compared to this beastly monstrosity.

I would love to see the Wii next to the two of them.

the slimline ps2 was the worst idea they ever had (aside from the price of the ps3). i've never personally heard a sony rep tell me they liked it better than the older style.

I'm not a hug fan of either consoles look, but the 360 definitely looks better in my eyes.

I find the Wii to be more attractive than both the 360 and PS3.

Yeah a totally new and wacky gameplay experience for less $$. It seems like a bargain. Only time will tell. I hope the control scheme works out. I'm still getting twilight princess on game'pube' though, simply coz I've been waiting for it so bloody long on game'pube'.

From what I understand, the Wii won't be supporting HD - which may not seem like a big deal now, but will be a major drawback in the long run. True, Nintendo tends not to come out with games that really _need_ to be seen in HD, but I'd have liked to have seen, say, Metroid Prime or somesuch tweaked out.

As to the PS3; what the flock are they thinking? I mean, sure, it looks ok - but it really doesn't seem to be a practical design by any means. I can't imagine there's any good reason for that domed top, and it'll just make life more hellish when trying to find a place for it. The Ps2 mini thing was another horrid design; the top-loading bit made it take up more room than even my Xbox on two different entertainment centers.

I'm not even bothering with the Ps next gen. Just getting a Wii. If someone gives it to me, which is really the only reason I have a PS2 and had a PS1, I'm just returning it this time. I got no use for the thing.
