Well I'm usually on low ping (westcoast) almost filled CTF/TDM servers, no home yet. I doubt anyone here has the connection to start a server so we're pretty much just going to find each other by coincidence or IM set-ups.

Dudes! I've got an extra rig with FEAR Combat already loaded that I can run as a dedicated server. I can set it up tonight if people are interested. I've got cable service with 5Mbit down and 768Kbit up. Who's got game?

The nice thing is I can use my main machine to log into the server through the LAN and not tie up any bandwidth on the WAN.

I could even password it. I'll probably name it "Atrip Server".

C'mon King. I played a little online Monday night - it's decent fun.

What game mode do you guys want to play? It defaults to deathmatch and I haven't checked out the other modes yet.

The Plan:
I'll set the server going when I get home at around 3:30pm Eastern time. I won't password it and the game automatically sets 16 players as the limit based on my connection speed. I may not be able to actually login until around 9 or 10 cause I have a lot of shit to do tonight.

If we find that other players fill the server up and are keeping any Atrip gamers from joining, I'll password the server and post the password here.

Maybe I'll get on tomorrow after I install my second 7900GTX. I'm not even gonna try to multiplay that game at 1920x1200 without the second card.

Played for a bit with NoSoul, Digital Pimp, and RacerX. Twas a tad fun, but nothing to write home about. Might have been more fun if I ran Winamp in the background, I need to rock out while I shoot things.

I also lowered the player limit to 8 since you guys said it was getting chunky.

I'm pretty rusty nowadays with my FPS twitch skilz, so FEAR seemed fun and fresh. I'll put a UT2k4 server up in the next couple of days - I have to install it and I may have to configure my firewall settings. Anyway, I'll post a new thread called "UT2k4 Server for Atrippers" when it's running.

I'm working on an old boat I just bought, so it might wait until the weekend.

It doesn't matter to me except that the demo doesn't have as many maps as the full version.

The retail game is backwards compatible with demo servers. Rankin is the only DM map available in the demo, Torlan for ONS, Bridge for CTF, and...I forget what else.

Sorry it's taking so long. My main rig gave me some issues after I just installed XP service pack 2. I had to update DotNet to 2.0 and it didn't like that I had some of the stupid services turned off.

I'm installing the UT2004 demo on my other rig to be the dedicated server. If enough people like ask, I'll install the full version game for a new server with more maps.

Give me about 20 minutes.
