Anyone here play as lock? One of my guildmates is a 50 lock and he's looking for a good weapon. What typically are good lock weapons? Which attributes should he be looking for.

I've got a 55 Lock. I guess it really depends on your spec and whatnot. I'm demonology specced, so I tend to look for Int and Stamina based weapons primarily.

I got a 24 Lock. Her name is Starla. I haven't really decoded on what to spec her with. Any suggestions?

I've got a 60 lock, 8/8 T1, and 2/8 T2, so I guess I'm qualified to answer the question.
If he's 50, he's gonna come up on a quest pretty soon (52, I recall) that'll give him the option of either a staff, robe or trinket. The staff's a sweet-looking scythe, the robe's alright, and the trinket allows you to summon your next voidwalker instantly. A lot of people like the staff (Soul Harvester), because it has nice +shadow damage, plus it looks might nice. The robes are nothing special, really, and the trinket I find pretty much useless. If he plans on speccing soul link for PVP, though, he may find it comes in handy.
At 60 and beyond, you basically have the option of either going with a staff, or a main-hand and off-hand. My personal preference is to go with the main/off hand scheme, as it generally provides a greater +spell damage boost than most staves. For example, if he happens upon the Azuresong Mageblade in MC, which gives +40 spell damage and +1% crit, and pairs that with say the Tome of Shadow Force from AV, we're talking about +74 spell damate and +1% to crit before enchants, which is pretty much impossible to top until you hit BWL and AQ. The one drawback to the main/off-hand scheme is that you usually sacrifice some +stam and +int stats, as staffs tend to be a bit more loaded on those than daggers and swords. Still, if that extra 80 health ends up making a big difference in a raid fight, you've got bigger things to worry about.
wmgreer, as for leveling specs, I was always a big proponent of the affliction tree, which was pretty much made for grinding. Just make sure you pick up Fel Concentration, and you can drain-tank until the cows come home. Once you get dark pact, it gets even better.

Soul harvester at level 50, just like Speedy said. After that there's really nothing better until the Azuresong Mageblade + Fire Runed Grimoire or Staff of Dominance from Molten Core. Well, you could always get a sageblade crafted.

Desert Eagles never fail to please, especially when the dickhead you're fighting has a sword.

I wouldn't go that far. There's plenty of stuff between the Soul Harvester and the Mageblade, which is an item you're likely not gonna get on your first MC run, given its penchant for not dropping. As for the staff of dominance, I hate the thing. It's a 2-hander with only 40 +spell damage, +1% crit, and a boatload of intellect (useless in my opinion). Compare that to my Lost Kris of Zedd, a BoE blue from AQ20 with +14 spell damage and +1% crit, alongside my Tome of Shadow Force, adding on +34 shadow damage. That's a nice total of +48 shadow damage and 1% crit, trumping the Staff of Dominance.
