If you continue to write poetry, I recommend you restrict yourself to some structured form of poetry, such as the Sonnet form.
Some structure to your poems will make you appreciate poetry more (in addition to making you better with words) and will disavow you of the notion that every scrap of bullshit free verse that you spin together in that dish rag of a brain is the best thing since Maya Angelou.
