I know this is pretty stupid, but i have had it up to here *points to neck*, with some of the stupid shit i see that passes for art these days, with the exception of modernist writing, i.e Joyce, Woolf etc, modern art in general seems to lack the effort and beauty of the masters. feel free to prove me wrong.

many failed artist uses modern art as an excuse (imitation of pecaso) to paint and draw craps, and dim themselves as skillful artists. i learned art and drawing since i was a kid. and i learned much from the teachings of Miss Bee(an asian dialect first name) who guided me throughout my growing up. art is a not only a form of drawing. it is a form of expression. it is a language in its own. and if you see an artpiece where the artist's intentions or feelings werent not clearly conveyed to you. he's a failed artist.

now pecaso was sad bout the war thats why he drew those stuff. but what the hell about those imitations who dim themselves artist of the modern age? they're jus a bunch of copycats who didnt know better.

DL doesnt = DLL
it is DL.
D stands for David, thats what my family calls me.
L my asian first name or surname is called Lim. so i mixed them together.
Its an idea, you see in many multiplayer games where cool nicks are used by so many people, all you have to do is add yuo own initials at the back of the names you want.
for example, DarkAngel.J( an drakangel by the bearing the initials of J) and so on and so forth...

no offense taken though. i'm cool with whatever you call me. just doing a little explaination for guys who wonder what the hell DL means. also for the post numbers

yah know. i saw in some art exhibits. some of the works presented were simply a horrid mess of paint which i think, splashed onto the paper on which the artist is working with. but he was looking around looking proud and some other artists who didnt get a chance to present their art pieces stood there, looking at it and said:...wow...(?)
but to me it look like paint with an accident. maybe the cat. or its poo. i mean they make outsiders think that artist are some freaks who draw adnormal stuffs. and the higher their expertise are, the freakier their art forms can be. i mean some kind of modern art really deserved a medal. i've seen such examples before. but the others are... liie... eewww.... or eegadd? get what i mean? i saw this failed imitation of picaso. and damn was it ugly. half the face was a babe the other half is a gorilla. then half the body was doggy and the other monkey. i mean goddamn. it makes people think artists are some kinda freaking satanist cult.

Ok ok sorry about the stupid previous post before, just playing...:D :D :D Here is my point of view on modern art, and some are actually greatly influenced by my professors...

Art is walking on a forked path when photography was introduced. It was a good thing and a bead thing at the same time. Good thing: Artists were freed from presuing realism and started to focus on some other stuff. Bad thing: Artisis seemed to lose their focus and definition on art...

In my mopnion, art needs to be pproachable to be practical. But great art that everyone likes is hard to find because everyone taste art differently, and in most case, people do not look at an art piece too closely. The easiest way for an avarage person to judge a piece of art is to look at its craftsmanship, and that is the art for the mass.

But different art suit different audience, too. Not saying that people who prefer art that is easily understood are shallower than the some people, but it is all about the needs. We cannot say that the equations of Relativity is bullshit just because we don't understand it, so goes to the art work. An art piece that is in a musiem has been through many artists and critics eyes, analyzed from many different values and perspectives before they decide their opinions. Most people, however, go into a musiem without any background knowledge of an art piece and simply say "this is bullshit" doesn't make sense to me.

People sometime seven say "my three year old can do this", or "I can do it myself..." We all can rewrite the famous math formulas by tracing their appearence, but it is not mjust about the presentation. It is about the meaning of that formula and the impact it has in the field, not how it reads and writes. All great stories and books consisted of nothing more than 26 alpphabats and random symbols, but can we all write great books...?

So, my point is, a lot of people call modern art bullshit before they know anything about the art. Art is just like everything else: you need to engage into it to realize its beauty. A Star Wars fan knows the significance of the Episode III (Vadar!!!! Death Star!!!), and a trekkie can resight the entire history line of Enteprise (from 1701 to 1701 E), but we all heard people say Sci-Fi is bullshit while they never watch a single episode. That is just as unfair when it comes to people saying modern art are bullshit.

BTW, some of them are bullshit indeed, if you aske me...
