I heard his speech on this weekend and I must say, I was impressed. Do you think he stands a hope in hell of becoming the Democrats Presidential candidate, let alone President?

His site is very hip. http://www.barackobama.com/

I think it's very likely he'll be selected as a candidate, but I can't really guess for President because Americans are fucking stupid and are easily fooled by a criminal politician with a bit of charm.

His name sounds like Baraka, and Osama. Two of the greatest villains of all time. ;)

And his middle name is Hussein.

Hillary is going to do more to discredit and villainous him than any Republican would ever get away with. And if Giuliani wins he'll have secured NY's vote(unless I'm being too optimistic of the intelligence in this state nowadays)

I might vote for him, but I was with Bush at first, until he made some bad decisions. So hopefully i can stick with this guy all the way through

id vote for obama

sadly he will lose some votes solely because some people wont be able to get past his name.

His name? I'd have thought that his skin colour would have been more a problem, at least in the south?

Shifty_Man
February 14th, 2007, 07:22 AM
What? in the south? i live in Texas, but i see more brown and black people then most people do in one day. Not a bad thing FYI :) . Maybe people from Alabama (watch my linked video in my sig) but not in Texas ,I would hope.

I like Obama, more than Hilary or any of the other dems. His record is clean (though that's mostly because of his inexperience), and he's charismatic and smart. What I think will end up happening, though, is that Hilary will win the democratic nomination and ask Obama to be her running mate for 2008.

As for Guiliani getting the NY vote, remember that Hilary Clinton is also from NY, and Guiliani will have to overcome the whole "blue state" thing in order to secure NY's vote.

There was a poll about who would win in New York between Giuliani or Clinton. Clinton lost by about I thikn 40% to 55% or something for Giuliani.

I prefer him to Hillary and I wouldn't like to see it that way round. Guess its going to be an interesting election period either way.

Giuliani will win the next election, probably by a landslide. We might see 16 straight years of a Republican control of the White House.

Comparatively, both Hillary and Obama don't appeal as much to red-voters as Giuliani does to blue-voters. Giuliani will pull in a decent amount of normally blue-voters all across the country (enough to swing several otherwise blue states, I'm sure), and may even swing New York's normally deep-blue electoral votes (and would be a death blow to the Democrats' candidate). The Democrats are nothing without the electoral votes of California and New York. If they lose those states, they lose huge. Giuliani has a better than outside shot at taking both states.

But regardless, it's all really much more simple than all that.

Most importantly, Giuliani's a white male.

Obama is of minority ethnicity, and his name itself only serves to underline the fact in red marker to even normally clueless voters.

Hillary is a woman, and is broadly disliked across party lines outside of the New England region.

Someday, we will have a non-Caucasian in the oval office, and someday we will have a woman in the oval office. But thinking it'll happen on the very first try is pure fantasy.

Giuliani will have a harder time beating McCain for the Republican nomination than he will beating Hillary or Obama in the election itself.

I for one will definitely vote for Obama. Yeah, I am a Republican, but that won't stop me from voting the right person.

Well, if any one else has seen the "FOX attacks" video, don't kid yourself believing it. So much BS in it. All other big stations are huge democrats, that rant and hate over all republicans like they are devil spawn. Well fuck it, some one is finally saying something back, all I wanted to yell, was SUCK IT MOTHER FUCKER! PAY BACKS A BITCH!<-- meaning to all those lame queer democratic only stations, you suck.
But unluckily they were dissing Obama, so they should attack Clinton instead, whom i actually do dislike...

oh sweet jesus

do you have any idea of what corporate ownership means?

and who owns those "big stations"

they are far from having a left slant

Well, first off, I'm canadian, so that statement doesn't make sense. Secondly, if you think that the other news stations making such a big deal about Barak Hussein Obama's name is somehow pro-democratic party, or that the comparisson I heard one guy make on air between Obama and Mahmoud Ahmedinejad somehow helps him, then I really don't know what to say to you.

Finally, If you think that Fox News is anything more than a Republican ball-licking machine, then you don't understand what the words "fair and balanced" actually mean. Have you ever tried watching a non-american news source like the BBC or even the CBC? Just once, try watching the BBC news, then compare it to Fox news. It's like the difference between Top Sirloin and McDonalds.

Edit: Not my fault you're a moron. Please vacate this forum.

EH, BBC? Don't watch.
You misunderstood me. I meant that Fox is one of the few who "brings down" democratic leaders, IE Obama. I like Obama. Second off, I don't even remember writing that paragraph. I made up the second post hoping that it would end it because I knew flaming would commence. Two nights ago, i was quite messed up with four newly formed surgical staples in my skull. Then, even though I had lost quite a bit of blood I drank. Woodee doo, if that counts as moronic, then I guess I'm a full fledged retard.

Democrats are not ignorant, and neither are Republicans, to quote Carl Segan "People are not stupid. They believe things for reasons. Let us not dismiss pseudoscience or even superstition with contempt." Basically, people believe things for reasons, not because they're less intelligent than you. Show a little tolerance.

Shifty, you should respect everyone's opinion, instead of ask them to leave. If someone's opinion upsets you, you should answer them with your own opinion. Otherwise nothing good will ever come out of these discussions. LittleChief's post shows a lot of wisdom and maturity, and I believe we can learn from that.

Does no one read my other posts? Please, read them. I do respect others opinions, but I was very frustrated and a little drunk. I needed to take something out on some one, so atrip won because they can take random nonsense the best. I may be mistaken :) .

"I WAS DRUNK LOLZ"

I believe we're always responsible for our actions.

You chose to get drunk and transform into (what seems to be impossible) an even bigger idiot than you once were...

And you're responsible for that.
