I have recently installed Tom Clancy`s Splinter Cell and when the game starts ( after the game logo ) an error apears :
"General Protection Fault"
Is it because of the game or because of my PC?
pls excuse my english ( it`s not my native language)...

Not trying to flame you, but how do you expect us to answer that question if you don't give us your PC's specs?

Well, it could be your video card, but i don't think so. I played the demo on my GeForce 4 MX440 (Which is just a re-named GeForce 2), and it ran fine, although a little sluggish. This should be a no-brainer, but do you have all the latest drivers installed for all your hardware? And can you also tell us what type of CPU you have, pentium, athlon etc.

Also what O/S you using, if something like XP Pro it could be a RAM problem with only 128mb . XP needs at least 256mb to run smoothly plus Splinter Cell is memory intensive.

1) First, patch the game. The old version of SC has this infamous GPF, and you're really not the first one... back in the day when AT did an review on this game, Nite told us about it in the comment section.
2) Grab the newest driver for your card, too. If you have an nVidia based video card make sure you have the 41.09 or 30.82 video drivers installed. If there are newer versions, get them.
3) In order to play SC, your dektop MUST be set to 32-bit color depth.
4) Finally, the core of the problem... Try editing the 'SplinterCellUser.ini' file in the 'system' folder of the game directory. Look for ´Resolution´ near the bottom of the file. Change 640x480 to 800x600, and save the file.
Well... a lot of peopl said a lot of things about rams there, 128 ram isn't enough but it doesn't give you an error. Increasing rams probably wont help in this case. Wolf even stated that "sure it isn't about the game..." wrong one, Wolf. This is actually about the game this time. SC, despite of its fun elements, shows technical issues throughout its first demo and the full version.
Hope it helps!:D

I play with 256Megs, and i don't have any problems. The only time i get HD swaping is in UT2K3 when i run with higher detail settings for world texture's and character textures. 128 is low, but saying 512 is for good gaming is just plain silly. 256Megs is for good gaming, 512 Would be for a great gaming experiance.

Do you have a RAM shortage in that country? You should really get some more. It's fun. I just upgraded to a gig and it's like the difference between shaving with a single, rusty blade razor; and shaving with a nice soapy lather and one of those nice three blade deals.

I don't really need that much. I'd love to have that much, but my dad's buying the RAM so if we don't need it, he won't buy it. My most resource-requiring game is Warcraft 3
