Allow me to be the first of what I assume will be many of us who say that Myspace and Facebook are gay, and therefore I don't have either.

I've met a lot of my college friends and my girlfriend on Facebook, so I'll have to disagree.
Actually, now that I think of it, I met my first high school love interest on MySpace.
Ah, the internet.

My Facebook is my address book.
But I hate Myspace more than anything in the world, save David Caruso. He's a fucking cockdouche.

I meet people the old fashioned way: IN PERSON! I met some of my friends in university, and met my girlfriend at a party. Wow, imagine that.

well. When I meet someone around campus, i friend them on facebook because it is an easy and simple way of communicating with people who I already know. Image that.

I am making careful note of who among you has MySpace/Facebook, and who among you does not.

Oh yes, because fashionable e-socialization with one's little e-friends via the internet is totally what all the cool kids do.
I'll grant that ideas like MySpace and Facebook were originally fine and good. But nowadays, any merit it once had has been far overshadowed by all the mewling sheep that have since flocked to the banner and infected every aspect of it all.
Call it cynicism, call it elitism, call it whatever you like. But I just don't want to be a part of any of that.

le sigh....
i hate myself for this...i really do.
i have no excuse for the myspace aside from i was bored one day and wanted to see what the fuss was.

you dont need an excuse, i tried it to but like cheddar says, all those meet and greetsites are fucked up now and full of everything that doesnt belong there!
I understand you have a lot of longdistance friends so it can be usefull but i live in a small country and can see my friends whenever i want to or call them so no need for a site like that for me, thats all.

I completely understand what you guys are saying, and for the most part Myspace is gay as fuck, but I don't use it to find girls or be emo... I found friends ive lost contact with, old highschool friends, and found an entire music scene that I couldn't find anywhere else

Nobody really has meaningful fun with anybody but their close friends, so why bother with trying to meet "new people"? I have truly given this thought, and my conclusion is that I'm either not imaginative enough and people do have fun with fuckheads they don't really know, or they do it simply because they feel better about themselves when they're surrounded by "friends" (fuckheads they don't really know).
Okay, so I might not have given it a lot of thought. It's not worth it, anyway. Deciding on what I'm about to jerk off to deserves more thought.
Also, I think I just said what Cheddar said, except without the whatdoyoucallit.

I dont use it to meet new people, just keep in touch with my friends, and find old friends I lost touch with and like I said find local bands in LA and find out where the shows are.
