apparently, forums like ours have been used as experiments to build better automated system. Over the past 6 years, I see how bots evolve from spamming links to being able to do keyword search and create rudimentary sentences. This is actually quite a breakthrough.

The bot seems to be capable to read through the thread, and if curse words are detected, it generates an automatic response such as "calm down." then, it searches wikipedia and quote the appropriate or random portion of the article regarding public health care, which it probably picked up from the title of the thread.

I think if this happens, it's just going to create tons more medical fraud (raised prices). If everyone has public health care, who's there to put a limit on how much exactly the doctors can charge? they will be milking the system like a cow trapped in the vaccuum of space.

I thought this example of my experience might be of interest to you yanks in light of current events.

In august a friend of mine and I were wrestling at his going away party. Ironically, he was going away to med school in Ottawa, but before doing so he went to throw me. I moved, my knee did not. So I hobbled around in pretty bad pain for a few days.

Initially, I called a free health hotline to see if I should go to the hospital. The nurse told me to watch it for a few days and stay off it, but that I shouldn't need to go to the ER. I did that and it got better.

Since august, however, I've had recurring pain in that knee. Not blinding pain or anything, but it feels very tight at the end of a day at work, and can be very painful when squatting or that sort of thing.

Anyways, today I went to a sports injury clinic. I arrived at 8:30, took a number, got screened by a nurse at probably 10:30, and saw a doctor at 1:30. He made me move around a bit, looked at my knee, prescribed me an anti-inflammatory and asked me to come back in two weeks.

So essentially, I waited five hours to see the doc for five minutes. And that is pretty usual. Am I complaining? Absolutely not. It was free. I didn't need to fill in any insurance forms or anything like that, and they couldn't refuse me because the injury was sustained from being a retard.

I'll update as it goes on.

Edit: Ah, for fuck's sake. It just occured to me that I can't drink at New Years Eve. Shit!

It was a very powerful speech, but unfortunately I hear only sensationalism from his words. Notice how much emphasis he placed on "respect to employer", "insult to private sector," "mother and daughter," "punish women in America," "greatest middle-class on the face of the earth."

Instead of logically analyzing the concerns, he use macho-pride and compassion toward women to build his case. WTF?

And I guess when the Colonists took the land for themselves instead of obeying rule of British Government, the Founding Fathers really punished the "successful" by rewarding themselves with what was not lawfully given to them, huh?

Update:

Went back for a follow up, had an appointment, got in shortly after I arrived. The Doc looked me over, sent me for an x-ray. Got the x-ray, went back to the Doc. He said it looks ok, sent me on my merry way. I'm getting an MRI at some point. The clinic will send me a notice in the mail, and once that's done, I phone and make an appointment to do the MRI. Total time at the clinic today: 1h30.

Yes, the government makes the middle class buy Prius' and fluorescent light bulbs (leik so 'spensive, omg). Please, stop acting like the middle class is the ultimate victim of every policy (yea, fuck incentives to buy higher mpg vehicles, and light bulbs that make my energy bill cheaper) implemented by democrats.

He also makes the argument that we should "punish those 85% who have earned health benefits as part of their employment, to try to cover the 15% that don't have it". You know what, I have a new policy idea. Only people who pay a certain amount of income tax are aloud to use the roads paved by federal and state DOT. Everyone who falls below that line (aka the poor) must find a way around on their own, because they're lazy.
